Direct Input using DirectX is not working.
I've been having a huge problem accessing DirectInput using DxDiag. I get the common error "DxDiag has detected that there may have been a problem accessing DirectInput the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass DirectInput this time?" every time I run it. If I click yes, it continues the scan with no DirectInput information, and the tab is mostly blank. If I click no, the loading bar will only go half way and stop. I have the latest directX 9.c and also the latest drivers for my Graphics card. I have the latest dxdiag taken from my machine. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Realtek HD Audio Input,0x00200000,4,1,,5.03.2600.5512 Realtek HD Audio output,0x00200000,14,1,,5.03.2600.5512

Hi all. I know this is an old thread but I have a possible cause for this problem. It can be caused by a USB peripheral interfering with directplay. The only solution I found was to remove the offending USB peripheral. Hope this helps Lee. So when the offending peripheral is a microsoft product, the Xbox 360 controller, and then after removing you have to use back-doors to uninstall every other usb device, restart, then install them again it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Why did I pay so much for windows 8 and Microsoft hardware to have it crash? I've checked replacing every other piece of hardware. New brands of keyboard, mouse, removing all other usb, and even using a differing motherboard with not the same chipset. Guess what. Still a problem. Why shouldn't I be able to use my windows8 with my xbox controller? Is microsoft ignoring this issue altogether?
Directx not found, and cannot be installed because of an internal error??
There is no directx version on my computer whenever I run dxdiag. Whenever I try to install the latest Directx through Microsoft's DX setup, it gives me an internal error and states to check the dxlog. I've done almost everything on the internet that have been stated, I've deleted my registries that have had DirectX on it, I've also downloaded registry fixers that haven't helped at all, none so far can help me fix this problem. Here is my directx log: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 11/11/2009, 10:20:48 SB X-Fi Audio [8000],0x00200000,9,2,,5.03.2600.5512 USB Audio Device,0x00200000,1,1,,5.03.2600.5512
Thanks for the reply. I actually got it fixed, and Googling it was not my best help. In fact, at the end, Microsoft wasn't the answer (trying to install Direct X again through their website). My method apparently wasn't ever checked online, so maybe someone out there with my problem should take note. . . This is how I did it: I called up my friend and ultimately what he did was he logged onto his father's computer, which had Windows XP, and he went into his registry files. He told me to open up my registry files and asked me what was in my "Direct X" registry, I told him that there was nothing in there. So he simply told me step by step over the phone on what command key to open up, then enter in the digits exactly, and after around 15 minutes of fiddling with new key commands, I saved the new registry commands and closed out of my Regedit. I ran dxdiag and there it was, Microsoft recognized that I had a Direct X 9.0c installed; however, just to be safe I reinstalled Direct X that came

It is sad but this was the only solution that fixed my PC.
My direct X did disappear, but it wasn't recently, and I did attempt to restore, but I could not find the checkpoint on where to restore. I was playing Call of Duty: World At War when I notice my computer's FPS dropping below average. My computer then was recently reinstalled because it got a virus and my computer guy, in order to save my old files, just reinstalled it. He installed a DX10 on a XP, so I guess that was conflicting with my games, so I decided to Google up on how to delete it or to revert back to DX9. In the end, I deleted it out of my registry files (bad idea apparently. . .) and I could not install direct x 9.0c, it kept stating it was an internal error, and people over the internet just kept saying "Microsoft has a page on this. . . do whatever they state" and some say "If it's that worse, then you have to install Service Pack" (which I couldn't do, because SP3 wasn't listed under my Remove). I fixed the problem as I stated above to Thahaseena, thanks for the advice th

Zune software crashes less than a minute after launch
Starting yesterday zune.exe crashes 10 - 30 seconds after starting with the generic error "Microsoft Zune has stopped working". Over this time period I removed a number of development tools from my system because things had become cluttered and I wanted to start fresh, these included Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio Express 2008, XNA development environment and various versions of the Windows Phone 7 develolopment tools. I suspect that one of these uninstalls has something to do with the instability. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the Zune software but the problem still occurs. I have also tried running the program in basic graphics mode using the "-gdi" flag on the off chance that a graphics card update I did 5 days was related. I have not noticed any other software issues on my system, nor do the event logs show any other Application Error events. Below is the crash report created. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Version=1 AppName=Microsoft Zune AppPath=C:\Program Files\Zune\Zune.exe
Thank you for the advice, sorry it took so long to send a response. This was great advice for fully removing and reinstalling the zune software. I followed this and the advice I had seen in these forums for reseting the zune libray. In both cases, things worked for a while (although setting up the partnerships for the three devices I sync got old). Unfortunately, in all cases, as I went back to reorganizing my library , the software would eventually get back into the cycle of crashing. After going through this multiple times, there appeared to be a pattern. It appeared that when I changed the category of video files in my collection from "other" to "Movies" or "TV", the software eventually became unstable. By backing up the C:\Users\Alex\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Zune\ZuneStore.sdf file and slowly changing the categories of the movie files from "other" to "movies" or "TV" I was able to get this problem to repeat with regularity. Each time I could restore the backed up copy of the
Help to us non-computer savvy people would be nice too! I have been dealing with this problem for over 6 months and my support chats do not seem to be helping me with it either!
what's interesting about this is that my problems started around the time I got a new router. At that time I moved my external USB drive that had my music from my PC USB to a USB on the router so it was easily networked, always accessible. If this was the problem, why my directory would have been "unresponsive", I have no idea. Also, a simple move of the drive back to the PC and repointing of the libraries did not solve the problem. However I do believe this may have been one of the original causes. After moving the drive back I then did a clean boot, followed by the microsoft clean uninstall tool and removed EVERYTHING zune. I then looked in program files folders and deleted everything. I then rebooted again and reinstalled fresh (still clean boot with everything but MSFT services disabled). It has finally started working again. I still have not changed my boot mode back to normal or done anything else since I FINALLY got it working. I don't want to touch anything. This was a lo
Hi all -- For whatever reason, my thread moved to a different page, where I mentioned that I'd solved the problem. Hi -- I am newly noticing this problem on my Win7x64 system. It was working fine since I originally installed it, and I used it constantly. I hadn't used it in awhile (a few weeks or months) and, of course, Windows had been doing its automatic updates normally. Then, when I tried using Zune 3 days ago (07/22/2012), I received the ever-popular "Microsoft Zune has stopped working... BEX64 / Zune.exe / 4.8.2345.0 / MSVCR90.dll" I have determined two things through hunches and trial-and-error: 1) When I logon as a different user, Zune works fine. Of course, as the "other user," I am not accessing my library. 2) When I logon as my normal user BUT DISABLE NETWORK ACCESS, Zune works fine. I can only conclude that the issue is related to the library and getting/setting content updates from the internet. Beyond that, however, I'm mystified. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing. If anyone has any ideas, please add! Thanks to all -- Dave
I'm having the same issues - tried all the uninstall, cleaning, updating DRM security files, creating new profile. nothing has worked. The same issue occurs on all profiles. Win7 32 bit... It may have to do with location of a library as I got a new NAS but zune won't run long enough for me to change the library settings. I'm sure there's a way to do this outside of zune (they don't reset on clean uninstall/reinstall so they must be pulled from else where). Any help is appreciated. This might be the end of a long relationship with Zune. If I can't sync my device, my zune pass is useless.
I think all you do is change the libraries in win 7 and it replicates over I think. If not change it in WMP. It even gives me issues in win 8. It seemed to start when it self updated to turn off the market
No luck... I did manage to change the libraries, reset them all to the defaults on the C drive. Still crashing.
Dear AlexanderPandelos, Thanks a lot for your question in the forum. First of all I need to know if the Zune Software worked before you removed the mentioned tools or if this issue occurs ever since you installed it on your computer. In order to un- and reinstall the Zune Software, you should maybe try to do so using the following tool: www.tinyurl.com/zuneuninstall 1) Save the file to your desktop. 2) Unpack and then install it by following the installation steps. 3) After the installation is finished click “Start”, select “All Programs” and choose “Windows Install Cleanup” from the list. 4) Mark everything related to the “Zune” Software. 5) Click “Remove”. 6) After all the files are removed close the Windows Install Cleanup Tool and restart your PC. 7) Install the Zune Software using the file that you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23771 Please let me know if these steps helped to solve your issue. Regards, Achim H. – Microsoft
I think it might do with the .net 4 security updates. It happened after those were installed.
MSVCR90.dll exists but still reported missing / broken
Hi, I'm using a Windows 7 64-bit machine. When I try to launch an application that requires said library it crashes with no crashing message, and the only residue is what appears in the Event Viewer: Faulting application name: LANoire.exe, version: 2617.1.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ff45207 Faulting module name: MSVCR90.dll, version: 9.0.30729.6161, time stamp: 0x4dace5b9 Thanks, Itay
Thanks for your answer! - .NET 3.5 is active. - I haven't enabled this option, I will. - I have indeed run the integrity check and it always results in 1 file required to be downloaded, my guess it's just a config file the game edits to match the machine's specs or something. - All of the operation's I've done to try and fix this issue were on an Admin user. - I have the Radeon R9 380X installed on a desktop PC with latest driver and software versions.
The problem could also be due to .NET 3.5. Verify .NET 3.5 is active by looking in Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On/Off (Just the main .NET 3.5 should do. The two Communications Foundation options are not required for games. - Not directly related, but if you have not already, also enable Legacy Components > Direct Play. - Have you run Steams 'verify integrity of game cache' tool ? - Apparently running the Steam.exe as admin helps some people. Don't know why though. Running the Steam client as admin can cause other issues. - What graphics processor does your machine use ? - If using a laptop with an Nvidia graphics, the game does not support Nvidia Optimus. .

You should ask for help from the developer of this unnamed program that you are running. TD.exe and .NET Runtime are tools used by software developers. Hi, Are you using any mods for this game? It seems to be a DLL that is only used for debugging, and it should have been removed prior to the RTM version being made, but it wasn't and it causes problems for some people. Quite why this causes problems for some people and not others is unknown. I would recommned you to uniinstall and re-install the game. Here is the link for the EA forums. Sorry I am late responding. The Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (7.0_51-b13) (build 1.7.0_51-b13) has gone the "way of the wind". My current Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment is: Version 7 Update 71 (build 1.7.0_71-b14) and so far it appears to be working. There have been NO further Java Error Dialog Boxes received. Reference my March 29, 2014 post: I then used the Control Panel/Programs & Features/Java to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of Java. The Control Panel/Programs & Features now appeared to be correct, i.e., Version 7 Update 51 (build 1.7.0_51b13), and the installation date of 03/21/2013 is now also correct. Currently, I now use the MSN Free Online Games site: http://zone.msn.com/en-us/home . Unfortunately there are other problems there as well. chalifourchalifour
I do not have a clue how this Microsoft Community works! The emails are returned. I've already entered my reply covering the following: A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment: hs_err_pid32512.log. I expect after I enter my data again the Submit button will just sit in is place with no further response to data I just entered into the system. No, I am NOT impressed with the 21st Century technical support and/or today's current PCs. Sorry I’m late responding. I have been doing additional searches on this Java problem and also completing Federal/State tax returns. On March 21, 2013, and prior to using the first two links you provided i.e., “uninstall the older versions” and “install the latest version”, I checked the Control Panel/Java/About tab. The Java application currently installed was Version 7 Update 51 (build 1.7.0_51b13), which according to the Control Panel/Programs & Features was installed on 10/18/2013. The data that you sent was very, very, helpful and I appreciate your efforts. ChalifourChalifour

First: 1. Uninstall Java with Revo unintaller preferably or windows Add/Remove 2. Use Revo to uninstall left over items of your previously installed java 3. Go to http://www.java.com/en/ and download Java. 4. Install Java This should work. It could be a conflict with another application your error report. Doing a total uninstall and reinstall should fix. I have ran into this problem once and this did solve it. Let me know if this solution I offered works. Thanks

Perfect! I didn't know that all the windows needed to be closed. After a couple of hours of frustration and trying different remedies I found on this website, it was your suggestion that finally worked. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
Hi, Try the Methods provided below and check if that helps. Method 1: Download the direct X from Microsoft website and then try to install it on the system. Check the link mentioned below. DirectX End-User Runtimes (August 2009) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=04ac064b-00d1-474e-b7b1-442d8712d553&displaylang=en Method 2: I would suggest you to try an SFC scan. Follow the steps to perform a SFC scan. For further details check the article mentioned below. Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747 Method 3: Download the latest set of drivers for the Video card. Refer: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-285.58-whql-driver.html Also see: How to troubleshoot the video adapter driver in Safe mode in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292460
I too have faced same error. Here is what i did to rectify the error. I downloaded it through web installer, closed all browsers, closed all windows, and ran the setup again (as it downloaded files before and it wont download because they are stored temporarily) as an administrator, and it worked and completed without errors. Hope this will work for you too.

Windows Aero Support Issue
I am preparing to upgrade my computer it Windows 7 and after using the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, my computers only issue was supporting Aero. It mentioned I needed more RAM and a better video card. So I went out and picked up the appropriate parts to fix the issue. I now meet the requirments for the RAM with a tad over 2GB and have a GeForce 8400 GS (512MB with DirectX 9). After running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor again, it still says that I can't support Aero. Now I am lost. I keep reviewing all the requirments and I meet them all. So can anyone help me out, or tell me what I may have overlooked. I am pasteing below my DxDiag file to better assist anyone willing to help me out. Thanks! Hi, I'd suggest you do the following and check if that helps. Step 1: a. Right click my computer and select Manage. b. Find "Device Manager" on the left hand pane and click it. c. Then on the right it will show all f the Hardware devices installed. d. Look for hardware icons with an exclamation mark on them that should indicate if there is an issue, Unfortunately, computers come with many different types of sound hardware, you need to know which brand and model you have before you can download the drivers, Step 2: You may also try a system restore which you can find in start - Programs - system tools and system restore.
You'll find the audio drivers here : http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C600&os=WNT5&osl=EN Cheers, jerry

The information you provided at the top of the thread is nothing more than a status of what is currently running on your machine. It does not indicate anything is wrong. To upgrade your Windows software, visit: < http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > To update other drivers, etc, visit your computer manufacturer's website. Many OEM companies (Such as HP and Dell) will post the latest drivers in the Support/Download section of their website. Failing that, visit the manufacturer's webite of the peripheral or chipset that you want to update drivers for. HTH, JW

Anytime your CPU usage goes up, your computer will generate more heat. The fans in your computer will normally dissipate the heat before your CPU gets too hot. To monitor your CPU's temperature, run the freeware program "CoreTemp" which will continually display your temperature. CoreTemp: < http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ > The most common cause of computer overheating is dust accumulating inside your computer on the CPU. Open up your computer case and clean out the dust. A can of compressed air should make quick work of it. While you are in there, verify that your computer fan is turning when your computer is turned on. A failed fan will cause overheating as well. lol. This is the 17th thread I've looked at, related to "dinotify.exe" supposedly being missing but it's sitting right there staring at me. I've been searching all day for answers to this and about the fact that Windows is saying it has no information about the disks on this computer so even though my external DVD-ROM works fine, and my Genuine Advantage disks work fine, and setup.exe executes, it can't do an Inplace Upgrade. I think - lol I KNOW that Windows wants to restart my computer. It doesn't want to do an Inplace Upgrade because I suspect, that might clean my filthy corrupted disks. Windows 7 64 bit- Getting exception with message "AppName has stopped working"
Hi, I'm working on a 32 bit product which runs perfectly fine on 32 bit machines. I bought a Windows 7 64 bit laptop and my app has stopped working. The app fails to load C++ dlls which it references. I have tried installing vcredist_x86.exe for VC++ 2005, VC++ 2005 SP1, VC++ 2005 ATL Security update, but nothing has solved the problem. When i opened the problem details file (got link for it from event viewer), i observed .NET 64 bit dlls getting loaded instead of .NET 32 bit dlls. The problems details file is pasted below. I have both .NET 32 bit and 64 bit installed in my laptop. When the application is run i wonder why this call: LoadedModule[16]=C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll Kind Regards, Vinay

Hi Marilyn, The application is what we are building from scratch. It is on c#, .NET 3.5, WPF. It references few C/C++ dlls from the previous version of the same product. Previously the event viewer showed the error as Side by Side Error. But now it is showing as "The application has stopped working..." Thanks, Kind Regards, Vinay
Hi Marcelo, Getting the same error after installing vcredist_x64. As shown in the problem details above, i wonder by 64 bit .NET dlls are getting loaded when my app is 32 bit. And i have both versions of .NET installed(32 & 64). Thanks for your efforts. Kind Regards, Vinay

I tried to re-install project 2010 with no resolution. The program DIDN'T crash a few times. Once it crashed the first time it crashed every time I close a project. Hey John, Thanks for the detail. I am on SP1 14.0.6129.5000 (32-bit) Every time I close project it crashes. If I have multiple plans open it waits until the last one is closed before it crashes. I have disabled all add-ons. No idea what the issue is. I appreciate any thoughts on the issue.

ZaneP, Okay, but there are a few questions you didn't answer. Check the last paragraph in my last reply and help fill in the blanks. Then I have some more questions. Are you working with a master/subproject structure or a resource pool/sharer file structure? Have all your files been strictly created, edited and saved with Project 2010 or did some of the process go through another version of Project? Do you have any VBA modules associated with the files? I have no idea what the issue is either. That's why we need more information to try to figure out the best approach to take. John

Hello Everyone this is my first post on here. I have windows 7 ultimate x64. I always keep up to date on windows updates. recently I started getting app crashes in 2 applications, Ketarin, and quickbooks pro 2011. looking at the crash log it appears that mscorwks.dll is the root of the crashes. mscorwks.dll 2.0.50727.5466. I have ran SFC and it comes back ok with no problems. Any help would be appreciated! here ae the logs I am getting from a program called appcrashview Quickbooks: Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH AppPath=C:\Users\Hep\Desktop\D7\3rd Party Tools\Ketarin\Ketarin.exe ReportDescription=Stopped working

How do I fix the Windows Media Center not responding on Windows 7?
Whenever I open Windows Media Center, it doesn't respond. I've tried mostly everything. sfc /scannow, reinstalling it. I've never used it before. This PC came pre-installed with windows 7 home premium, then I bought an upgrade key and upgraded. Windows Media Center is the only problem I'm having, I don't understand why this is happening. Someone please help. Version=1 EventType=CLR20r3 EventTime=129650198068115422 ReportType=2 AppPath=C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe ReportDescription=Stopped working
I fixed the problem by re-installing windows, none of the solutions on the internet fixed it. Thanks anyways.
Hi, Yes I have. Method 1: Nothing came up after I typed “%windir%\ehome\mcupdate” (without quotes) and pressed Enter. All it did was bring up C:\ or something. Does that mean it has the latest updates? Method 2: I tried a clean boot, ESET Smart Security is the only program that wouldn't allow me to disable it on start-up. Maybe ESET is causing the problem? I don't see why it would be causing the problem. ESET is not the cause of the problem as I figured. So now what do I do? BTW, I can't believe just to fix one program, I have to go through this.
Hi, OK you are in the clean boot, if you open Windows Media Center what happens? Are you getting that error just simply trying to open the program or when you try to play a cd/dvd? Also try this for me, open Windows Media Player and try to replicate the issue...what happens? Eddie b.
Hi, Did you reinstall Windows Media Player or Windows Operating System? Method 1: Check for the latest updates for Windows Media Center. To do this, follow these steps: a. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories and then Command Prompt. b. In the Command Prompt window type“cd \” (without quotes) and press Enter. c. Now type“%windir%\ehome\mcupdate” (without quotes) and press Enter. This will check for the latest updates for media center and will install them. Check to see if the problem persists. Method 2: Check for the issue in a clean boot state and reply the results. To perform clean boot follow the steps below; a. Click Start, type “msconfig.exe” (without quotes) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration Utility b. On the General tab, click Selective Startup, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box c. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all. Click OK, and then

FIX: If anyone has been searching hopelessly around the internet for a fix that works, this fix is different from the others and may work: ONLY DO STEPS 4 TO 17 IF YOU HAVE JAVA 7 INSTALLED, YOU CAN STILL DO THE OTHER STEPS (other people recommend to solve this problem to have java 7 installed and not java 8, to download it now, you may need an oracle account (but probably not)) 1: Go to the .minecraft folder and go to the versions folder 2: Delete all the contents 3: Open the minecraft launcher 4: Check the box which says executable 5: Remove all the text from the box which has become editable 6: Don't click save yet and go to the folder in which you have the minecraft launcher (Minecraft.exe) (This needs to be the latest launcher) then go to the folder called runtime 7: Open the only folder inside the folder called runtime 8: Press the windows key and r together 9: This will load Run 10: Type into the box: If you have a 32 bit Java, type: C:\Program Files\Java if you have a 64 bit Ja

Windows Media Player 11 - Vista Home Premium x86 - C00D1199 error / 80040218; can only play about half of my library files
I've tried like everything on the forum, I think I need to reinstall Windows Media Player (Version: 11.0.6001.7008). Some of my codecs now don't work correctly & only about half of my previous playable songs still play. I wish I had a old System Restore point, but now all my old Restore Points are gone. Microsoft's download/update site is of no help, Microsoft only offers downloads for pre-Vista versions. For Vista, it says to restore using program recovery within Vista. I did go to my Sony VAIO Recovery Center program's Reinstall Programs or Drivers tab, but unfortunately Windows Media Player is not listed as one of the many factory-installed programs that can be restored to the original condition. I don't want to wipe my entire harddrive just to fix one program by doing the Restore C: Drive or Restore Computer System options because I have over 105GB worth of stuff that would need to be backed up. How do I reinstall just Windows Media Player or how do a fix this error problem???? I know the files are not corrupt because they play fine on my Compaq computer which has the same exact music files, only difference is the WMP version on my Compaq computer is like 11.0.8 I think. I already tried the Basic & Full versions of K-lite Codec package & my WMP still only plays about half of my library. The Windows Media Player error I get when I try to play an originally playable file is: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Opening the Web Help link on the error box, it goes to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&mpver=11.0.6001.7008&id=C00D1199&contextid=83&originalid=80040218 which says the original error code was: "Technical Details = This error might have been triggered by an error in another program or component of Windows. I went with my gut feeling & uninstalled everything Apple related on my Vaio. (I was also having a problem where Quicktime refused to play with sound, files would play but no sound would be heard) Then tried to play my unplayable mp3s, & they all play with no errors! I reinstalled iTunes & Quicktime & the whole Apple package thing on their site, & WMP refuses to play like half my mp3 library again =( Something about iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Update,
Yes, this is likely an issue with iTunes and/or Quicktime. I suggest that you report this in the Apple Discussion Forums . Tim De Baets http://www.bm-productions.tk
Oops, forgot to mention that all the previously playable files are mp3s, so basically only about half of my mp3s that I have are still playable. The other half, I get a red x-marked circle that appears next to the mp3s when I'm looking at my WMP library, and when clicked on the circle or when trying to play the mp3s that has the red circle, that C00D1199 / 80040218 error shows up.
What's the file type (MP3, WMA, WAV...) of the songs that don't play anymore? Tim De Baets http://www.bm-productions.tk

Word 2016 crashes randomly with BEX error
Hi, I have a COM add-in developed for Word2010 with VS2013 targeting .Net framework 4.0. Add-in works fine in 2010 but the same add-in crashes randomly in 2016. So I have created "2016 Word Add-in template" in VS 2015 targeting .Net framework 4.6 and copy pasted the code from 2010 add-in template to 2016 add-in template. Still I am facing the crashing issue randomly, mostly on closing the document. The is happening in both 86-bit and 64-bit office versions and also for every one (approx 150 users). Could anyone please help me with your valuable inputs in solving this issue. Please let me know incase of more details. Thanks, Stanley

Hi, I would suggest you to place the computer in Clean Boot state and check if it makes any difference. Perform Clean Boot to see if any third party services are causing the problem. To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a " Clean Boot ." A Clean Boot helps eliminate software conflicts. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: After Clean Boot troubleshooting step, refer to “ How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with Clean Boot ” from the article. I would like to gather some information on this issue: 1) What is the version of DirectX installed on the computer? Hope it helps. Please reply us if you have any other Windows related issue.

When starting Autocad I get the following message. How do I fix this?
Hi Helprf, Try performing SFC scan on the computer. SFC /scannow is a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the /scannow switch, the tool will scan all of the important Windows files on your computer and replace them as necessary. Missing and corrupt operating system files (like many DLL files) are arguably the biggest cause of major Windows issues. Considering that, plus the fact that SFC /scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should usually be one of your first troubleshooting steps. DirectX errors on startup Windows7 > d3d9.dll and d3d8thk.dll
Hey guys, I've roamed the internet looking for a solution but can't find one. So here goes nothing. For a while now, I recieve several DirectX related errors when starting my computer. I run Windows7 and several programs that would start on startup fail to do so, because 1) d3d8thk.dll is missing (although I found it sitting snugly in the windows/system32 folder) 2) failed to load library d3d9.dll (also found this file in the windows/system32 folder) I tried installing DirectX again, but it says I already have the newest version and doesn't want to continue installing. I tried changing the registry values for direct x and ended up deleting the entire registry for it, both to no avail. I did notice loads of versions in the windows/system32 folder, such as d3d9x_24.dll through D3D9_43.dll - maybe that has something to do with it? Since I'm working mainly it's not too much of a hassle, it's just generally annoying to close 5 menu's stating these errors on startup. And I can't play the occ
The DirectX Web Installer does not recognise or overwrite corrupt DirectX files. It only fills in blanks. When an error specifies a DX file you can sometime delete, or move, them and then re-run the DX Web Installer and it will install new files. However, in the d3dx9.dll is not one that can be deleted, so reinstalling DX may be the better option. [ EDIT: I'm not sure if d3d8thk.dll comes with Win7 ? I believe it may get installed by older games, or software that use DX8. If you still get an error for this .dll after using the DirectX installer linked below, you may need to install that separately. There should be a installer on the games disk, or in a sub-folder in the games main install folder. Or, reinstall the game/software. ] The DirectX Redist (June 2010) installer will overwrite all DX9, 10 &11 files, fixing any corrupt files - Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - DirectX Redist (June 2010) - If you have not already, restore any changes you made in Registry before
Can't install games win 7 64
Installing hearts. Win 7 64. After install and try to boot get: C:\Windows\system32\d3d8thk.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. I ran sfc scannow. uninstalled and installed hearts several times but no luck, same message. John
I turned the games off then tried to turn them on again.
Just had a bit of a read re - d3d8thk.dll http://dll.paretologic.com/detail.php/d3d8thk The "Trusted Installer" is new to me but I'm thinking that things protected by 'Trusted Installer' should not be played with without full knowledge of what they do, and how they affect the OS. A bit like tampering with registry entries. I would guess there was never anything wrong with the original d3d8thk.dll as it does appear to be part of Win7. That's why you can delete DX 9 ,dlls, but cannot delete the d3d8thk.dll. So it looks like your hearts game is not compatible with a 64bit OS.
I have Direct x 11 according to dxdiag.exe. When I run the 64 bit dxdiag it starts with the same message about d3d8thk.dll as when I try to boot hearts. Also says "Bad image." I was going to install dx 11 again but I can't find it. The only thing I can find about dx 11 on the Microsoft sites is how great it is and how to use it. Nowhere can I find how to download it and install it. John
Solved it! I have a cloned disk I use for backup. I copied the d3d8thk.dll files from clone to all the places they appeared on the offending disk after deleting them. Rather hard because all the files and folders were owned by "Trusted Installer" so I first had to claim ownership and control of every file and folder in which they appeared. A real PITA. No thanks to Microsoft. I did not find an answer to the problem in google other than to reinstall windows... start over. That is a real shortcoming of dx 11. John
Hearts should already be preinstalled in Windows 7 - why are you trying to install it? If your preinstalled Microsoft games are not showing up check that they just don't need to be switched on: 1. Click on Start (bottom left) then Control Panel . 2. Click on Programs and Features . 3. On left hand side of screen, click on " Turn Windows features on or off ". 4. Find the entry called Games & put a tick in the box next to it. 5. Click OK .
d3d8thx.dll probably isn't in Hearts, it sounds like a directX file. Try reinstalling Direct X 8
Win7 does not have only DX 11. It has three versions 9,10 & 11, but you have to do a directX update as the Win7 installation is missing a couple of d3dx9.dll's. I would hope that Monopoly$oft would have include the missing files in the sp1 service pack, so people can stop having this problem. The software/game chooses the version and file # of direct it needs. It's been over a year since I installed Win7, so I don't know if it included d3d8thk, but I do have that file in System32 (where it should be). I may have been installed when I installed some older game that asked to install DirectX. When a game does this it does not un-install any DX files, it only adds any that may not be there. The following is a complete list of the Direct X .dll's you will have when the files are up to date (June 2010) Go to the Windows / System 32 folder, (and SysWOW64 if you have 64bit). They are in alphabetical order and will start with d3dx9 24 through to 43 . Then d3dx10 33 - 43 & finally d3dx11 42 -
I don't know what Monopoly$oft is... oh, think I see lol. d3d8thk.dll was in the right place but it was the wrong d3d8thk.dll apparently as were all the other d3d8thk.dll's on my system. Don't know how that could have happened. If I replaced only the one in system32 then re-installing hearts would put the wrong one in there again. Had to find them all. Seems surprising everything else works fine. Maybe just a matter of time. John
Cannot repair member file "d3d8thk.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-DirectX-Direct3D9
Hi, I been having a problem for the pass 2days, and havent been able to fix it. I have updated my bios, directx, ran a clean boot, uninstall microsoft visual 2010 and reinstall it, I have also done a system restore... and nothing has been fix. I also been researching all over the internet, been advised not to download any .dll from online, so I dont know what to do no more. I have an Nvidia gtx 660 OC and the drivers are up-to-date; I removed the GPU and still the problem persists. I went to my manufacturer website and updated my drivers and yet the problem persists. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. The problem is that whenever I try to launch a program or game, this message pops out: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Hi Zawin, Which operating system is installed on the computer? Method 1: I would suggest you to try the steps from the following link: Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/diagnosing-basic-problems-with-directx Method 2: I would suggest you to run SFC scan. SFC scan will scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Keep us updated on the status of the issue after you try the above steps.
Hello Vijay, thanks for the response: I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. I did the two Methods advise by you and nothing was fixed. However, I was told that replacing the damage .dll would fix the issue, which I don't know if thats the best solution to the problem. I went ahead and did replace it, and backup my original .dll. My anti-virus Norton 360 says the file is safe and is use by millions of people. After replacing the .dll from this website: http://windowallos.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=winvis_ul_eng_x64&wr_id=1505 everything now runs fine, the programs I had trouble launching can now be launch. Yet, i don't know if this is the best solution, since I do want to evade future problems with my computer.
Yeah I did try out other methods, yet they didn't help much. I was afraid to had to reinstall my OS, which I didn't want to go through that hassle. Thanks for the help, if anything occurs I will ask for help again. :D
Hi, You can replace the damaged dll file. If SFC scan does not fix the issue , that is the next solution that i would have provided. Glad to hear that you have sorted out the issue. Let us know if you face any issues with Windows in future.

Error: c:\windows\system32\d3d8thk.dll is either not design to run on Windows or it contains an error
I was installing a new version of directx and suddenly when i open a game or some application which requires graphics setting this shows up... " c:\windows\system32\d3d8thk.dll is either not design to run on Windows or it contains an error ...." I removed the file d3d8thk.dll and download another one from a dll site. I guess that was my mistake. I tried to reinstall an older version of directx but nothing. Please i need your help to fix this.

Run Dxdiag and see what it reports
He posted the same question in the Gaming section, and as I said there, d3d8thx.dll sounds like part of DirectX 8, so try reinstalling that.
Have ownership/full rights of file, need permission from MYSELF to delete, no security tab in file properties.
I have been searching all day to delete file C:\Windows\System32\d3d8thk.dll. Learned that I needed ownership/full rights, and used takeown and cacls command to receive those. (side note: Since taking ownership of the file, the original error message I had been getting when booting up my comp has not shown up. I do not know if thiis means it is fixed or not.)I then searched for and learned that by accessing the security tab and changing settings I could then delete said file. But I do not have a security tab. I am using Windows 7, and there are no tutorials I have found to teach me how to enable, or even view, it. My ultimate goal is to redownload Directx, to repair the file. I would very much appreciate any help you have to offer. Thanks! P.S. I will post the error message if need be.
Deleting files in the System32 folder is not recommended and can lead to serious damage. Re-installing DirectX should do the job. If you still wish to go ahead, being aware of the risks, then you can use one of the following methods: Start a Command Prompt under elevated admin privileges then use the "del" command. Turn off UAC (User Access Control) then delete the file while in Windows Explorer. Boot the machine with an Ubuntu boot CD (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/) and use its GUI to delete the file. Note that downloading the Ubuntu CD image of 720 MBytes can take a long time. Under the Ubuntu boot you can delete any file, so be very careful. You have been warned.

The d3d8.dll error message could apply to any program that utilizes Microsoft DirectX, most commonly video games. I suggest following the steps below to resolve issue. 1. Restart your computer if you have not yet. The d3d8.dll error might be a fluke and a simple restart could clear it up completely. I hope the information is useful. Regards,

Skype problems: Unable to Locate Component
I currently have a dell mini inspiron laptop. Running Windows XP service pack 3. DirectX 9.0c. I used to run skype a while back, perhaps in 2010? I hadn't bothered with it until now when I tried to download it and it said "failed to load library. Fatal error." This application has failed to start because d3d8thk.dll was not found. I tried numerous solutions, re-installing, downloading current and old versions. The old versions 4.2 do however download, but do not open when I click on desktop icon. Any suggestions? :)
