Direct Input using DirectX is not working.
I've been having a huge problem accessing DirectInput using DxDiag. I get the common error "DxDiag has detected that there may have been a problem accessing DirectInput the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass DirectInput this time?" every time I run it. If I click yes, it continues the scan with no DirectInput information, and the tab is mostly blank. If I click no, the loading bar will only go half way and stop. I have the latest directX 9.c and also the latest drivers for my Graphics card. I have the latest dxdiag taken from my machine. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Realtek HD Audio Input,0x00200000,4,1,,5.03.2600.5512 Realtek HD Audio output,0x00200000,14,1,,5.03.2600.5512

Hi all. I know this is an old thread but I have a possible cause for this problem. It can be caused by a USB peripheral interfering with directplay. The only solution I found was to remove the offending USB peripheral. Hope this helps Lee. So when the offending peripheral is a microsoft product, the Xbox 360 controller, and then after removing you have to use back-doors to uninstall every other usb device, restart, then install them again it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Why did I pay so much for windows 8 and Microsoft hardware to have it crash? I've checked replacing every other piece of hardware. New brands of keyboard, mouse, removing all other usb, and even using a differing motherboard with not the same chipset. Guess what. Still a problem. Why shouldn't I be able to use my windows8 with my xbox controller? Is microsoft ignoring this issue altogether?
Directx not found, and cannot be installed because of an internal error??
There is no directx version on my computer whenever I run dxdiag. Whenever I try to install the latest Directx through Microsoft's DX setup, it gives me an internal error and states to check the dxlog. I've done almost everything on the internet that have been stated, I've deleted my registries that have had DirectX on it, I've also downloaded registry fixers that haven't helped at all, none so far can help me fix this problem. Here is my directx log: ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 11/11/2009, 10:20:48 SB X-Fi Audio [8000],0x00200000,9,2,,5.03.2600.5512 USB Audio Device,0x00200000,1,1,,5.03.2600.5512
Thanks for the reply. I actually got it fixed, and Googling it was not my best help. In fact, at the end, Microsoft wasn't the answer (trying to install Direct X again through their website). My method apparently wasn't ever checked online, so maybe someone out there with my problem should take note. . . This is how I did it: I called up my friend and ultimately what he did was he logged onto his father's computer, which had Windows XP, and he went into his registry files. He told me to open up my registry files and asked me what was in my "Direct X" registry, I told him that there was nothing in there. So he simply told me step by step over the phone on what command key to open up, then enter in the digits exactly, and after around 15 minutes of fiddling with new key commands, I saved the new registry commands and closed out of my Regedit. I ran dxdiag and there it was, Microsoft recognized that I had a Direct X 9.0c installed; however, just to be safe I reinstalled Direct X that came

It is sad but this was the only solution that fixed my PC.
My direct X did disappear, but it wasn't recently, and I did attempt to restore, but I could not find the checkpoint on where to restore. I was playing Call of Duty: World At War when I notice my computer's FPS dropping below average. My computer then was recently reinstalled because it got a virus and my computer guy, in order to save my old files, just reinstalled it. He installed a DX10 on a XP, so I guess that was conflicting with my games, so I decided to Google up on how to delete it or to revert back to DX9. In the end, I deleted it out of my registry files (bad idea apparently. . .) and I could not install direct x 9.0c, it kept stating it was an internal error, and people over the internet just kept saying "Microsoft has a page on this. . . do whatever they state" and some say "If it's that worse, then you have to install Service Pack" (which I couldn't do, because SP3 wasn't listed under my Remove). I fixed the problem as I stated above to Thahaseena, thanks for the advice th

Okay Thanks. I have done that and gone to both those sites. I have tried all those things and still nothing. What now?
Please disregard the last reply. I managed to get to the site page refered to. This page has something to do with Visual Basic and registering dll files. some questions: 1. Do I need to register a dll file? 2. If I do can someone tell me which dll file that would be? 3. The error message says WINERR_class not registered. Can it as simple as registering WINERR using the method discribed on the Visual Basic page? Please advise.
Hello birdman51, Refer this MSDN link and check : http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/vbgeneral/thread/7ec57842-1941-4901-b08a-7cb59870d73d
Sorry to bother you but the message I get is that windows can not find this site. Check spelling and try again.

Thank you for replying so quickly. I have tried the suggestions you gave me. No luck. Both the threads you gave me say invalid address. They do not go any where. The computer is 3 months old. The game is Microsoft Links 2003 golf. It was installed and running fine for the last 2 months. Something changed. I have tried system restore several times which has failed every time. Not sure why. I am thinking that it may be a directx problem just looking at the error message. Should I try to reinstall windows? What would this do to the rest of the computer? Please advise the next steps.
Thanks. I solved the problem my self. Had to reload Vista and start all over. Must have been a coruppted file. All good now.
Please can anyone tell me or even guess what the following error message means. STOP : FAILED (0x80040154 - WINERR_Class not registered ) - CoCreateInstance(IDirectPlayLobby3A) I know from a previous reply that I need to register something but have no idea what. Please help.
Hi birdman51 , If it the clicking on the link says invalid address, then copy and paste the link in a new tab, follow the instructions in the link and hopefully your issue would be fixed.

Hope this will work for you too.

Look for hardware icons with an exclamation mark on them that should indicate if there is an issue, Unfortunately, computers come with many different types of sound hardware, you need to know which brand and model you have before you can download the drivers, Step 2: You may also try a system restore which you can find in start - Programs - system tools and system restore.
You'll find the audio drivers here : http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C600&os=WNT5&osl=EN Cheers, jerry
Mechwarriors 4
I recently installed this game on windows 7 pro but the game just refuses to run. I have installed directx, new gpu drives, tried different modes in compatibly, a system restore and so so far no joy. The error seems to be something with directdraw but im short on idea's now outside of a fresh install. I included the error below if anyone has an idea :) STOP : FAILED (0x80040154 - WINERR_Class not registered ) - CoCreateInstance(IDirectPlayLobby3A) Try Processor Registers EAX=0x00000000 EBX=0x00000000 ECX=0x00000000 EDX=0x00000000 Flags=0x00000000 SPECULARFLATRGB : Yes SPECULARGOURAUDRGB : No
Hi, a. How are you trying to install it? Is it through CD\DVD? b. Have you installed any expansion Mechwarriors packs? We don’t have any information about its compatibility with windows 7. So, you may try the below methods one by one and try installing it in compatibility mode. Before trying the below methods, I would suggest you to check if your system meets minimum system requirements of that game. Method 1: Regards, Umesh P - Microsoft Support
Recommend you go to http://www.mektek.net/ and download the most recent free download of the game from there. This will run under WIN7. The old game on the CD was wrtitten for WIN98 and really doaesn't work under the new OS very well. The MEKTEK community are gamers committed to MEchwarriors and you'll find lots of help on that site. Microsoft has abandoned this game for the most part.

Hi Omega47, · Was it working fine before? Do you remember making any changes on the computer after which the issue started? Try the steps below and check if it helps. a. Right click on the game shortcut that you use to start the game. Hello Santosh Y. i was played this game normally with my joystick for years when a couple days ago, suddenly (actually right after playing, closing, and opening it again) this problem started occurring. i tried repairing & reinstalling both the game and the joystick and it still happens. then i tried adding that ending to the shortcut and the game works perfectly, but i want to play it with the joystick as i use to, not with just mouse+keyboard. what could i do? thanks
Hi santosh Y Thanks for the answer, but do you know a way to fix this problem without disabling the joystick (because I'm quite fond of my joystick) thanks

The information you provided at the top of the thread is nothing more than a status of what is currently running on your machine. It does not indicate anything is wrong. To upgrade your Windows software, visit: < http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com > To update other drivers, etc, visit your computer manufacturer's website. Many OEM companies (Such as HP and Dell) will post the latest drivers in the Support/Download section of their website. Failing that, visit the manufacturer's webite of the peripheral or chipset that you want to update drivers for. HTH, JW

Anytime your CPU usage goes up, your computer will generate more heat. The fans in your computer will normally dissipate the heat before your CPU gets too hot. To monitor your CPU's temperature, run the freeware program "CoreTemp" which will continually display your temperature. CoreTemp: < http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ > The most common cause of computer overheating is dust accumulating inside your computer on the CPU. Open up your computer case and clean out the dust. A can of compressed air should make quick work of it. While you are in there, verify that your computer fan is turning when your computer is turned on. A failed fan will cause overheating as well. lol. This is the 17th thread I've looked at, related to "dinotify.exe" supposedly being missing but it's sitting right there staring at me. I've been searching all day for answers to this and about the fact that Windows is saying it has no information about the disks on this computer so even though my external DVD-ROM works fine, and my Genuine Advantage disks work fine, and setup.exe executes, it can't do an Inplace Upgrade. I think - lol I KNOW that Windows wants to restart my computer. It doesn't want to do an Inplace Upgrade because I suspect, that might clean my filthy corrupted disks. It wants to do an offline re-install. It wants to write corruption back onto the disks. CMD is having no problems whatsoever, with recognising and reading and writing to the disks on my computer. CMD has lots of information about the disks on this computer. Windows...Windows has none. Windows cannot repair this system. lol But I just thought it's cute, that 7 people had this question, at Microsoft A
