Hi, Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft Community. To resolve the issue with the installation of printer drivers follow these steps: Step 1 : Any other suggestions? I have thought about doing an in-place update to reload the system files, but I would rather not have to do that if I can avoid it. There is always the chance of something going haywire and I don't need the downtime that would cause. DWC
So why are you installing using the add driver wizard and not that makers cd, or direct download from their site?

"Error Loading the TCP MIB Library" error when I add a standard TCP/IP printer port in Windows 7
My research states......This behavior may occur if a third-party version of the Wsnmp32.dll, Ntprint.dll, Tcpmib.dll, Mgmtapi.dll, or Snmpapi.dll file has been copied to the folder. The fix states... To resolve this behavior, rename or delete these files in the folder. These files are taking precedence over the Microsoft-supplied file in the \System32 folder. Is this correct? If so how do I go about finding these files and which ones do I delete for Windows 7?
and you will never be able to print over network
Hi, To resolve this behavior, rename or delete these files in the %SystemRoot% folder. These files are taking precedence over the Microsoft-supplied file in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder. Click Start. Type %SystemRoot%\System32 in the search box. Delete those files which is mentioned below: Wsnmp32.dll Ntprint.dll, Tcpmib.dll Mgmtapi.dll Snmpapi.dll
This answer appears to present contradictory information. You say to delete the DLLs from %SystemRoot%, which is gonna be C:\Windows, but then your instructions say to navigate to %SystemRoot%\System32 to delete the DLLs, which you seem to want to use, not delete. Which is it? The ones in %SystemRoot% or %SystemRoot%\System32?

Click Start. Type %SystemRoot%\System32 in the search box. Delete those files which is mentioned below: Wsnmp32.dll Ntprint.dll, Tcpmib.dll Mgmtapi.dll Snmpapi.dll Or use the Print Management console that you installed to manage printers.
I found the solution to my problem : I have a 64 bit windows 7 I get this error when trying to run the 32 bit driver version of my Xerox printer. I do not get this error when trying to run the 64 bit driver version of my Xerox printer :-)
My system root is at c:\windows None of the following files exist there : Wsnmp32.dll Ntprint.dll, Tcpmib.dll Mgmtapi.dll Snmpapi.dll Yet I still get the error "Error Loading the TCP MIB Library" error when I add a standard TCP/IP printer port. Help !!!
Unable to install TCP/IP Printer in Windows 7
Summary: I am unable to install a TCP/IP based printer on my home network to my new Acer Aspire 5750G Laptop running Windows 7 x64. Details: I have a home network with an HP Laserjet 4000 on it, accessed via a Jetdirect 600n card. The printer works fine on other machines (including those running Windows 7x64). The network address (192.168.2.211) is accessible from the laptop via a browser without issue. I cannot install the printer onto my laptop. When I try to install it via the "Add Printer Wizard", the wizard detects the printer type and the IP address without issue. When I click "Next", i get the error "Cannot Load Wizard Pages for standard TCP/IP Port". lot of looking - all of it has pointed to the solutions above which haven't worked. Judging by the searches I've seen, I'm not the only one. Help would be appreciated.
Hi, 1. Which file were not repair by the SFC scan? 2. Method 2: Manually download Printer driver from manufacturer’s web site and install it. Hope it helps.
Hi, Thank you for the update. Though the computer is not connected to Domain (Server) based Network, this question would be better suited to be asked on Technet. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows 7 Networking forum. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-us/w7itpronetworking/threads Thanks and regards.
Hi, Please refer the article below and check: Note : The information provided below is equally applicable to Windows 7. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490975.aspx Regards.
Hi, Try the methods and check after each method: Method 1: Registry disclaimer: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Hope it helps.
Hi I've already done both those steps, as outlined in my original question.
Hi Thanks - I have just tried that; I get the following error: Unable to create port 192.168.2.211 error 0x80041002 Not found.
Hi, What is the exact printer model number? The printer is not compatible with 32 bit Windows 7. Please refer the article for more: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=HP%20LaserJet%204000tn%20Laser%20Printer&v=HP&uid=C4121AABA&pf=1&pi=9&c=Printers%20%26%20Scanners&sc=Laser%20Printers&os=32-bit However the printer is compatible with 64 bit Windows7. But it does require installing drivers from HP. Refer the article below for more: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=HP%20LaserJet%204000%20Laser%20Printer&v=HP&uid=C4118A&l=en-US&pf=0&pi=0&s=HP%20Laserjet%204000%20&os=64-bit Reference Links: How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218 32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-as
1. Which file were not repair by the SFC scan? I don't know - the output from sfc doesn't say; if you can let me know instructions on how to make it do that, that would be useful. 2. Sometimes the cause of the issue is due to incorrect IP (Network) address. Could you check once and provide the exact network address? It's not an IP address issue; my laptop's IP is on the same class C subnet as the printer (which I can see the web server on the jetdirect of). My laptop's IP is 192.168.2.108, the printer is 192.168.2.211, and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. The network adapter works fine in all other respects, although I have tried reinstalling it. The driver for the printer is present already in Windows 7 (being an old LJ4000); the printer itself works OK if connected via a parallel connection, or if the printer is connected to another machine and shared via that machine's windows printing service, but obviously that's not a solution.
Hi It's a Laserjet 4050. It's compatible with Windows 7 x64 - I have other PCs which work perfectly with it using W7x64, and it works fine with the stock driver (Laserjet 4000 series PCL6) which is included with Windows 7. I don't think the issue is the printer driver, it's that it's not possible to create a Standard TCP/IP port in the add printer dialogue - there's clearly something broken in my Windows installation which means this is not possible.
KB4041676 fails to install at 100% complete
The KB4041676 cumulative update is failing at 100% just like the previous update KB4038788. No error code is displayed or provided in the Settings/Windows Update/Update History screen. I reviewed the CBPersist log for the update and found that an error 80070057 occurred in Phase 31 which did not terminate the install until 100% complete. The text of the relevant portions of the log are listed below. This phase appears to deal with the ntprint.dll file in some way. I've seen postings regarding this error that say the SoftwareDistribution folder needs to be renamed to .OLD and running Update again. I've tried deleting the contents of the SW distribution folder and running a manual update which also failed. Basically none of the suggestions provided in the many postings on KB4038788 and KB4041676 have worked. 2017-10-14 12:20:40, Info CSI 00000acd Rolling back transactions... I followed the recommended actions for error 0x80070057 - essentially turning off anti-virus and doing a clean boot but the same issue occurred. I tried both a manual update and allowed the auto update to run without success. I noticed in the CBSpersit log that the install process rolls back to KB4034674 . Evidently that was the last cumulative update to was successful on my system. But during the rollback, the same INVALID_ARG error occurs. However no roll back is triggered because it is doing a rollback. I still believe this issue relates to ntprint.dll. Here is a directory listing of the various ntprint.dll files on my system: The "active" version of ntprint.dll is from March 18 but there is a version from Sep. 4. Can someone tell me if I need to download/install a newer version? Thanks
Thanks but that thread relates to -- " The issue appears to affect domain-connected computers where a certain GPO relating to automatic updates is enabled." I have a stand alone home system and as I've described the update process does not stop prematurely with the 0x80070057 error being called out. It simply says can't complete etc. and then rolls back. I found the error in the CBSPersist*.log file. Note the line reporting the error code also contains this: 2017-10-14 12:20:40, Error CSI 00000acc (F) Installer: Events 2017-10-14 12:17:36, Info CSI 000005d2 End executing advanced installer (sequence 0) Completion status: E_INVALIDARG
Hi Michael, The error code 80070057 is usually caused by HTTP proxy settings which have been altered or are inaccurate. When you try to install updates in your computer, the settings interfere with the update process. This issue can be solved by eliminating the current proxy settings. To do so, follow the steps below: 1. Press Windows key + I and click on Network & Internet . 2. Go to Proxy and then toggle off the Use a proxy server option. We look forward to hearing from you regarding the steps that we’ve provided.
Lizette, My Use proxy server switch is already toggled Off Any other ideas? Thanks
Final update on this issue: I called MS Support and, long story short, after describing my problem, the agent speculated that the update files were corrupted somehow so he decided that the best approach was to reinstall the latest version of Windows via the Media Creation tool. The process took several hours but it worked and I am now on Windows 10 Home, V1709 Build 16299.19. I did not lose any data or apps in the process and have had no issues since the re-install. For anyone else struggling with the same issue or different repetitive issues with the update process, I highly recommend calling the MS Support team. It will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Here's another thread from community that helped 226 community member with the same issue. Follow the troubleshooting steps provided by Maxwell Shifman . Keep us posted with the result.
Further info relative to ntprint.dll: Windows\System32\ntprint.dll installed 3/18/2017 I ran a virus scan on the \Windows folder that found no problems with any files. I ran SFC/ Scannow that completed without issues What is Phase 31 trying to do? Can anyone identify what the invalid argument is in the log entries above? Is this a problem with the ntprint.dll file or a problem in the XML code in the install procedure? Thanks
Hi Michael, The error code 0x80070057 is due to corrupted downloaded files. We found a thread with a similar concern. See the answer of Syed Md Bilal on this link and follow the on-screen instructions provided. Let us know what happens after.
2017-10 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4049179) installed successfully last night. But KB4041676 continues to fail at 100% with the same E_INVALIDARG error in Phase 31. Still need help fixing this.
Same problem here with KB4041691. Proxy settings are off. Any other idea?

Epson Stylus NX300 stopped printing.
My printer all of a sudden stopped printing. I tried reinstalling the software that came with the printer and also downloaded driver from the manufacturers website. Printer Error 0x000000c1 - bad Epson Drivers?
Hey, I just tried to install an Epson Workforce 610. I received Error 0x000000c1. It happens whenever I try to Add Printer. When I try to Add printer as admin I get the following notice: C:\Windows\system32\ntprint.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. I have installed and uninstalled the printer and all software several times. Right now no printers are showing. I am guessing that the Epson driver installed 64 bit files instead of 32 bit.. or something. I just want to get back to where I was before, but it seems as if the Epson drivers have messed me up for good. Is there any way just to fix things so I can do a simple install? Operating System: Windows Vista

Hi, Windows has system restore feature to get back to an earlier working condition of Windows. To restore the computer to an earlier time, try these steps. 1. Open System Restore by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking System Restore. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2. Choose a date when the system was working fine and follow the instructions on the wizard to complete the task. For more information on system restore, check this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-is-System-Restore In order to install the printer, make sure you've the right printer driver. One can visit the printer manufacturer website to download the right driver. We recommend you to visit the printer manufacturer and download the right driver to install the printer successfully: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=13
Kind of a semi basic user here... and I don't want to mess something up. I tried to install a new Epson Workforce 610 printer. The installation failed and now I get Error 0x000000c1 error when I try to add a printer. When I try to add as admin, it tells me that ntprint.dll is experiencing an error. On my C: drive, the ntprint.dll is blank... 0kB. I have a backup of ntprint.dll on my D: recovery drive... would I screw anything up by just copying it over? Also... as i understand, I can't copy a system file, even as an administrator... any advice?
Print error "C:\windows\system32\ntprint.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try reinstalling the program again"
Vista 32bit error: "printui.exe - Bad Image" The rest of the error is "C:\windows\system32\ntprint.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try reinstalling the program again..." How do you reinstall the printui.exe and/or ntprint.dll? I've also got the error "Windows can't open Add Printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000000c1)" when trying to add a new printer. Nothing I've read online thus far has worked, basically: removing old printers, system restore to a date before the error began. thanks :)
Hi captainentropy, · What is the make and model of the printer? 0x000000c1 error occurs if the printer driver that is installed on the computer is corrupted. You will need to install the latest printer drivers. Method 1: Visit the manufacturer support website to manually download and install the latest printer drivers. Method 2: Run the automated troubleshooter from the following article and see if it helps. Troubleshoot printer problems Also see: Add or remove a printer
Yeah, never solved it. Had to reinstall the OS (actually an upgrade to win7 from Vista). Sorry, I can't be of any help.
None of this worked. I get an error message that says "C:\Windows\system32\puiapi.dll is either not designed to run windows or contains an error....etc" SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is so frustrating. i've installed the new software for my printer but NOTHING works. when i go to add a printer i can't add ANY printer
Hi, It's an HP LaserJet 4700. But can you explain in detail why that would matter? I've read that all over the internet and 1) it makes no sense to me, 2) no one has reported, that I've seen, that that works, and 3) I've already removed all the printer drivers. When I select "add printer" it give me the error. When I try access printui.exe directly - same thing, when I try to add the printer from the command line - same thing. When I use the HP driver installer application it gives me this error "Operation could not be completed (error 0x000000c1)"...again. Annnnd, Method 2 also returns the same error code. If that error is related to bad printer drivers then why am I also getting (at first) errors regarding the ntprint.dll and printui.exe? Do I really have to reinstall the entire OS because of this? Is there any way of just reinstalling all the printing components?
print spooler does not run: xp sp3 x86
I uninstalled HP printer to install a new HP printer: print spooler no longer works, and new printer will not install. Fixit says that print spooler will not start: it can't fix it. Several files are missing: ntprint.dll spoolsv.exe Files present: winspool.drv printui.dll I ran sfc /scannow Sfc scanned my files/CD -- no report, just returned to cmd prompt. Spooler still does not run, missing files not replaced. I have found many suggestions none of which are the same, each with some replies saying it works & others say the solution does not work. Can I copy&paste the missing files from my XP CD? Can anyone suggest a better approach? Thanks in advance, Cathie
Dllcache: The only folder 'dllcache' is in C:\WINDOWSA\LastGood\System32 LastGood folder dated 5/1/2011 Security KB234729: None existed to remove. Installation completed without errors. Tried to start the print spooler service: reported 'no files' I sure hope you have some more suggestions!!!
Try using the Search function and specify "Search system folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" Search for dllcache You should also try searching for your missing files. Did KB234729 give you back spoolsv.exe? Files that end with an underscore should be expanded from a Command Prompt window using the Expand command. Open a Command Prompt window (Start > Run > cmd > OK) and type expand /? for a list of parameters. Basically, the command would be: expand C:\i386\spoolsv.ex_ C:\windows\system32\spoolsv.exe
That is all curious looking, but we don't know the history of the system. Maybe you will tell is about it someday. If your immediate issue is you are missing the ntprint.dll and spoolsv.exe files, I uploaded my XP Pro SP3 versions to my SkyDrive (everybody has a SkyDrive) and you can download them and drop them in your system32 folder. You may not see the file extensions, but they are there. If you already have those file out there, rename them (save them) so you can put the originals back if you need to. Here is the link to the two files: http://cid-6a7e789cab1d6f39.skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?resid=6A7E789CAB1D6F39!307
Just to triple check: when you searched for spoolsv and ntprint, did you (a) set the search options to "Search hidden files and folders" and in "Search system folders" and (b) look for the files without specifying the file extension (e.g., search for spoolsv not spoolsv.exe)? For example, I have over 10 different instances of spoolsv on an old XP Pro sp3 box. The "operative" instance of spoolsv.exe should be in C:\Windows\system32 (or C:\WINNT\system32 if your system was upgraded from certain earlier versions of Windows). This should be version 5.1.2600.6024. An identical version of spoolsv.exe should be in c:\Windows\system32\dllcache. Are both of the above really missing? If you have ever installed a service pack to Windows XP, you should have a C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 directory. This directory should have an older version of spoolsv.exe (in my case, 5.1.2600.5512). In addition, you may have a C:\i386 file with the "original" version of spoolsv stored in compressed form
"Just to triple check: when you searched for spoolsv and ntprint, did you (a) set the search options to "Search hidden files and folders" and in "Search system folders" and (b) look for the files without specifying the file extension (e.g., search for spoolsv not spoolsv.exe)?" I did not use search, I keyboarded to C:WINDOWS\system32 and looked for the files. I'm not savy enough to know if the hidden files would remain hidden using that route -- but I assume so. I had found some copies of the files I seem to need, but had noted that their extension was .ex_ .dl_ I will uninstall KB234729, and install the update, and then report back. Thank you.
??? Someone replied to my question with an explanation of how to expand files, but their post does not appear here? Only some replies show up as posts? I saw that in some of the other threads -- that there seemed to be other posts that I did not see, because the logical order was off. Please tell me what I need to do to see all postings. Thanks.
Do you mean missing from the system32 folder? You could get the files from your XP installation CD, but there should be backup copies on the files on your system. Assuming Windows is installed on your C drive... We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder: c:\windows\system32\dllcache Using Explorer, browse or navigate to the following folder: c:\windows\system32\dllcache Locate the copy of the missing file, right click it, choose Copy (this copies the file to the Windows clipboard). If the file is also missing from the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder: c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 Navigate up one level to the following folder: c:\windows\system32 Right click an empty area in the c:\windows\system32 window and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs. Hi Jose, Your files worked -- I'm able to print again. I still need to replace the dllcache -- I just wanted to say thank you for now. i have a deadline on a project --but I'll be back on Wednesday -- trying to replace that cache. Thanks again!! Wow, having my very own printer again!! Cath
I do not have a folder with this name/path: c:\Windows\system32\dllcache Seems I might have a bigger issue than just a few missing files.
Did you keyboard over to the dllcache folder and look for copies of the files there? If they are NOT there, they need to be there too - that is where XP keeps copies of critical system files so that in the event they ever come up missing, Windows File Protection will automatically replace the missing file with a backup copy from the dllcache folder.
Windows 8.1 fully patched X64 laptop trying to use X86 UniDRV when installing a usb printer
I have been trying to install a Star TSP143 receipt printer and failing miserably. This is happening on two different laptops. Both are running 8.1update1 with all the latest updates applied. The issue is this: The TSP100 driver appears to install ok into the DriverStore but when I attach the device's ISB cable is stays as Unidentified in Devices and Printers. The following extract from the setupapi.dev.log shows the failed installation. Error 2 is file not found >>> [Device Install (Hardware initiated) - USBPRINT\StarTSP143_(STR_T-001)\6&eea345a&0&USB001] >>> Section start 2015/05/16 22:44:44.437 dvi: {Build Driver List} 22:44:44.437 So now for the question. How do I make the ntprint.inf_Amd64_e8fcb2dca56ca9f9 driver package the Active package?
Hi Niranjan Thanks for the reply. I can confirm that a clean boot does NOT fix this issue. I can also confirm this is not a third party driver issue as I have now successfully installed this printer on other machines. I have also built a dual boot to VHD installation on my failing laptop. Installed Win8.1update1, office 2013 all the laptop drivers and then updated it to with windows update to 3 june 2015. I then installed the driver package which worked fine and then attached the printer via usb. PnP detected the printer and loaded the driver correctly. The printer functions correctly in this install. The difference between these installs is that the failing image has had the rollups applied in order where as the working would have only had the latest rollup applied thus avoiding any 'back outs' that have occurred. The DriverStore from the working image shows 3 versions of the NTPrint.inf drivers present as per the screenshot below. The active one being ntprint.inf_amd64_59246c3ac1bd3f
Hello, Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. This could be caused due to some incompatibility with 64bit driver of the printer. Windows 64bit Operating System is capable of installing both 64bit and 32bit driver architecture. However, Windows 32bit OS can take only 32bit architecture only. Hence, the operating system has installed the compatible/relevant driver as per the scenario explained. If you still would like to install 64bit driver package, you may try following steps and check. Step 1: Perform clean boot To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot. How to perfor
