Strange Windows 8 disk issues causing software to crash
I'm having a very strange issue with my new Windows 8.1 laptop. Any time I upload a file in a browser it crashes within seconds. It doesn't matter if I use Opera, Chrome or Firefox. Also, some applications crash directly after launching them such as SmartFTP, SnagIt Editor and Jing crashes when I save a file. Also, when opening This PC in a file upload dialog sometimes it will keep loading for hours. I've tried to get more information by clicking Debug after a crash and here are some of the errors I've noticed when debugging Opera and Jing: Unhandled exception at 0x66AAF19F (apphelp.dll) in opera.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x0C9E0DA8. Unhandled exception at 0x7720A604 (msvcrt.dll) in Jing.exe: 0xC00000FD: Stack overflow (parameters: 0x00000001, 0x0F6E2FFC). NsGroup=windows8 ApplicationIdentity=C7C9F04F5D2127C1BA59AC3D486E6F21
Creating a new user account did resolve the issue. Is there a way to recover from this without having to reinstall all my applications? It usually takes about 3 to 4 days of nearly full-time work before I get things running right and it's not guaranteed the same thing won't happen again if I can't figure out the root cause.
The main culprit is seems was OpenDrive. After uninstalling it, restarting, reinstalling the other apps that had issues, everything seems to work fine.
The same issues are present in safe mode. Safety scanner did not uncover any malicious files. I will try creating a new user account now and see if that resolves the issue. FYI I replaced the secondary hard disk with an SSD but that didn't resolve the problem either.
Hi Ken, This issue might occur due to some third party programs and sometimes due to a malware also. You might also face this issue due to a corrupt user profile. Zune software crashes less than a minute after launch
Starting yesterday zune.exe crashes 10 - 30 seconds after starting with the generic error "Microsoft Zune has stopped working". Over this time period I removed a number of development tools from my system because things had become cluttered and I wanted to start fresh, these included Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio Express 2008, XNA development environment and various versions of the Windows Phone 7 develolopment tools. I suspect that one of these uninstalls has something to do with the instability. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the Zune software but the problem still occurs. I have also tried running the program in basic graphics mode using the "-gdi" flag on the off chance that a graphics card update I did 5 days was related. I have not noticed any other software issues on my system, nor do the event logs show any other Application Error events. Below is the crash report created. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Version=1 AppName=Microsoft Zune AppPath=C:\Program Files\Zune\Zune.exe
Thank you for the advice, sorry it took so long to send a response. This was great advice for fully removing and reinstalling the zune software. I followed this and the advice I had seen in these forums for reseting the zune libray. In both cases, things worked for a while (although setting up the partnerships for the three devices I sync got old). Unfortunately, in all cases, as I went back to reorganizing my library , the software would eventually get back into the cycle of crashing. After going through this multiple times, there appeared to be a pattern. It appeared that when I changed the category of video files in my collection from "other" to "Movies" or "TV", the software eventually became unstable. By backing up the C:\Users\Alex\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Zune\ZuneStore.sdf file and slowly changing the categories of the movie files from "other" to "movies" or "TV" I was able to get this problem to repeat with regularity. Each time I could restore the backed up copy of the
Help to us non-computer savvy people would be nice too! I have been dealing with this problem for over 6 months and my support chats do not seem to be helping me with it either!
what's interesting about this is that my problems started around the time I got a new router. At that time I moved my external USB drive that had my music from my PC USB to a USB on the router so it was easily networked, always accessible. If this was the problem, why my directory would have been "unresponsive", I have no idea. Also, a simple move of the drive back to the PC and repointing of the libraries did not solve the problem. However I do believe this may have been one of the original causes. After moving the drive back I then did a clean boot, followed by the microsoft clean uninstall tool and removed EVERYTHING zune. I then looked in program files folders and deleted everything. I then rebooted again and reinstalled fresh (still clean boot with everything but MSFT services disabled). It has finally started working again. I still have not changed my boot mode back to normal or done anything else since I FINALLY got it working. I don't want to touch anything. This was a lo
Hi all -- For whatever reason, my thread moved to a different page, where I mentioned that I'd solved the problem. Hi -- I am newly noticing this problem on my Win7x64 system. It was working fine since I originally installed it, and I used it constantly. I hadn't used it in awhile (a few weeks or months) and, of course, Windows had been doing its automatic updates normally. Then, when I tried using Zune 3 days ago (07/22/2012), I received the ever-popular "Microsoft Zune has stopped working... BEX64 / Zune.exe / 4.8.2345.0 / MSVCR90.dll" I have determined two things through hunches and trial-and-error: 1) When I logon as a different user, Zune works fine. Of course, as the "other user," I am not accessing my library. 2) When I logon as my normal user BUT DISABLE NETWORK ACCESS, Zune works fine. I can only conclude that the issue is related to the library and getting/setting content updates from the internet. Beyond that, however, I'm mystified. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing. If anyone has any ideas, please add! Thanks to all -- Dave
I'm having the same issues - tried all the uninstall, cleaning, updating DRM security files, creating new profile. nothing has worked. The same issue occurs on all profiles. Win7 32 bit... It may have to do with location of a library as I got a new NAS but zune won't run long enough for me to change the library settings. I'm sure there's a way to do this outside of zune (they don't reset on clean uninstall/reinstall so they must be pulled from else where). Any help is appreciated. This might be the end of a long relationship with Zune. If I can't sync my device, my zune pass is useless.
I think all you do is change the libraries in win 7 and it replicates over I think. If not change it in WMP. It even gives me issues in win 8. It seemed to start when it self updated to turn off the market
No luck... I did manage to change the libraries, reset them all to the defaults on the C drive. Still crashing.
Dear AlexanderPandelos, Thanks a lot for your question in the forum. First of all I need to know if the Zune Software worked before you removed the mentioned tools or if this issue occurs ever since you installed it on your computer. In order to un- and reinstall the Zune Software, you should maybe try to do so using the following tool: www.tinyurl.com/zuneuninstall 1) Save the file to your desktop. 2) Unpack and then install it by following the installation steps. 3) After the installation is finished click “Start”, select “All Programs” and choose “Windows Install Cleanup” from the list. 4) Mark everything related to the “Zune” Software. 5) Click “Remove”. 6) After all the files are removed close the Windows Install Cleanup Tool and restart your PC. 7) Install the Zune Software using the file that you can download here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23771 Please let me know if these steps helped to solve your issue. Regards, Achim H. – Microsoft
I think it might do with the .net 4 security updates. It happened after those were installed.

Canon Image Transfer Utility (IUT) has stopped working
Canon IUT comes with my wi-fi digital point and shoot camera. It is supposed to load on my computer at bootup and automatically download photos remotely uploaded to Canon's cloud. However, it will not run. I have been to Canon support and they have no record of any other instances of this problem, which I believe since my online searches also show no other instances. I have eliminated my Norton Security Suite as an issue; IUT will not load whether Norton is enabled or disabled. I have copied below the contents of the WER file for this error. Can anyone decipher this and point me in a productive direction for solving this problem? I apologize for the long post. I was going to attach the WER file, but could not figure out how to do it. WN Other than re-installing the software the best advice is to contact cannon as we have no idea about their software.
Hello, friends, You made this post two years ago and I supposed that you solved this problem. Nevertheless, my break-through was adding new device under the control panel. I turned on Wi-Fi on my PowerShot G7 X and found Windows was trying to add my camera as a new device. I double-clicked the camera name and everything thereafter went automatically as I wished. I was using (and am using) Windows 10 TH2 32bit.

Runescape and TextTwist (among other games) won't run on IE8
When we had IE7 we used to be able to play Runescape, TextTwist (off of MSN Games), view video from the national tae kwan do website, etc., but now those games won't load. We can get to the point where we click to load the game, then IE8 crashes, recovers, but never loads the game. For the games, clicking Play Now opens a new window, which tries to open, then crashes all IE8 windows. For the video, the space ont he webpage where the video is is blank. I think that the below is the error from this -- these sites worked before we installed IE8: An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM. Need some guidance on WMP 11. Prior to the 4th June 2012 I had no problems with playing DVDs whilst using Windows Media Player version 11 for XP. As from the 5 June 2012, WMP will no longer play DVDs. Updated WMP. Reinstalled it and still have the same problem. Had to verify I had genuine windows software, which I did. WMP will play downloaded or streamed content from the net but not DVDs Content Partner None Found
I have tried restores before and never had much luck. I kept going back further each time and the last possible restore point worked. That was soon after I'd posted. Regardless of that. I must thank you for taking the trouble for reading my post and advising me though by the time I had read your kind and thoughtful reply, my problem was sorted. One thing that might be of interest. Was that I mentioned to a friend of mine about removing 'Microsoft Office' from my Pc and I was thinking, could that impact on WMP not working correctly as it came packaged as a bundle. he mentioned it could do! Again, Thank you very much, Take care and maybe one day I can return the kind gesture you have shown me.
You did not mention System Restore...did you try that? Restoring to a time before the issue began might be worth a try. (306084) How to restore Windows XP to a previous state http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306084
System restore has saved me lots of times. If you ever try it and it fails to restore the system...try running it in Safe Mode. Reason being that other programs can sometimes interfere with it...especially virus scanners. No one has all the answers...especially me...but if you mean an OEM bundle as in the software that came on the computer when you purchased it...I would say no... uninstalling a trial of MS Office should have no impact on Windows Media Player. Thanks for the feedback.
Windows Explorer crashing - Fault Module Name = StackHash_6b11
I'm posting a new question about this because though there are many discussions about windows explorer crashing none of them seem to address this specific cause / crash report. Windows Explorer crashes - fairly often. It restarts without a problem. I just re installed Windows 7 - a clean install with a formatted boot drive. I was having this problem before. It may be connected to a network drive - I think it happens when I browse a network drive. However I am not completely certain that this is the only time it happens. Another possibly connected issue is that the copy/paste sometimes stops working in W/Exp. Copying does not cause the crash or prophecy an impending crash - however it is another pointer that may help someone tell what is broken! thanks for any help with this! Hello, jmc99 Thank you for using the Answers Forum. Uninstall Java then reinstall the latest version. Detailed instructions for removing Java are available at http://java.com/en/download/help/uninstall_java.xml If that doesn’t solve your problem, one of your add-ons may be incompatible with Internet Explorer 8. To test if one is causing the problem you can try running Internet Explorer without add-ons. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and open Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). If Internet Explorer runs correctly, an add-on is causing the problem. You will need to disable the add-ons and enable them one at a time to find the one causing the problems. In the No Add-ons Internet Explorer window go to Tools, click Manage Add-ons, change the Show setting on the left to All Add-ons then select all of the add-ons listed an click Disable All. Restart in Normal mode and enable them one at a time. Let us know if this helps. David Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Mic

Anything you suspect from MGA Diagnostic report...? Yes. The 0x80070002 very strongly suggest that a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial came preinstalled on the computer when you bought it. 1. What installation media did you use to do the clean install of Vista on the SSD drive last year (e.g., the set of OEM discs that came with the computer; a set of Recovery discs you'd created earlier; an image you'd created earlier)? 2. Has Comcast's Constant Guard Protection Suite or Comcast's Norton Security Suite been installed since you replaced the HDD last year? 3. Open Windows Explorer [ WinKey+E ] to & right-click on C:\Program Files\ AVAST Software <=this folder Select PROPERTIES : What's the CREATED date on the resulting GENERAL tab?
I haven't been able to update since changing my hard drive (died) cloned to a solid state drive (Nov-Dec 2013). Are you telling us that you haven't install any updates since you replaced your HDD with a SSD a year ago?
Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply, preferably without quoting my post: 1. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer? 2. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed? What third-party firewall (if any)? 3. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you replaced the HDD ? 4. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [pick one] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.) 5. Is Firefox, Chrome or any other alternate browser installed? Note: The computer should NOT be connected to the internet or any local networks (i.e., other computers) in its current state. All of your personal data (e.g., onlin
1) Around June 2009 2) Avast! Free AntiVirus 2015-does not expire- 3) Norton with old hard drive, when we had Comcast service 4) Unknown, it may have been either but removed them 5)Chrome Anything you suspect from MGA Diagnosticl report above?
1. Had Comcast's Constant Guard Protection Suite or Comcast's Norton Security Suite ever been installed by the time you created the Macrium Reflect image? 2. What, if any, anti-virus application was installed between November 2013 (when you replaced the HDD with the SSD) and 01 November 2014 (when you installed Avast Free, I assume)? 3. I see you have Chrome as the system's default Browser. Is IE8 working OK when you intentionally choose to use it? Speaking of which... 4. Is Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer v15.0.0.223 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ 5. Is Chrome v 38.0.2125.122 installed now?
I turned off 2013 Avast to see if it was interfering with the WIndows update. Tried turning on & off the the update thru DOS and/or MSconfig...when updates still didn't work, I tried to turn Avast back on but it didn't for some reason,so uninstalled & installed updated 2015 Avast. I've always had the computer connected to internet...no problems/virus etc except the update issue. Avast always blocked malware and/or other items. Avast states my computer is clean I believe I'm going to just do a clean install of Vista over the weekend. Unless you or someone on this forum can tell me that it can be avoided and there is a fix for the update issue. Thanks.
Thats correct. I haven't been able to update Vista since Nov13. I really busy with work and didnt pay all that much attention/didn't know it wasnt updating until recently. Any help would be appreciated. I would hate to resort to saving all pertinent files and doing a clean install if that can be avoided. Thanks.
Did you uninstall Avast Free (2013?) & then do a clean install of Avast Free 2015 on 01 November for some reason or...? Had your previous Avast Free license already expired by the time you installed Avast Free 2015? How long has the computer been connected to the internet since you replaced the HDD a year ago?
1) It wasn't a clean install. I cloned my old hard drive to the SSD using Macrium Reflect software. 2) Have not installed Comcast's Constant Guard Protection Suite or Comcast's Norton Security Suite. It was prob remanants from old hard drive. 3) Avast Created 1Nov2014 Is a clean install avoidable? Can the current system setup be fixed? It seems I'm gonna end up backing the important files & doing a complete clean install of Vista

Hello Uday, Hope my previous post indicates that I have already tried these solutions and it didn't work. Look forward to someone who will really get me out of this mess. However, thanks a lot for your reply! Regards, Satyajit
Thank God! Finally I worked it out myself. But, it's painful to observe hardly anybody other than Uday replied to my problem. Something I was so eagerly waiting for. I applied my common sense and defragmented the dirives and then sfc /scannow, and it worked. Cryptographic Services stated when I set it to log on as Network Account. Thus, my problem is solved. Now windows update is working fine. Interestingly, Microsoft Fix it, said it can't start Cryptographic Services. God, then what the ____ are you supposed to fix? It did put Internet Explorer Icon back on my desktop and other places.
Hello Satyajit-Dey , Thank you for using Microsoft Windows Vista Forums. Method 1: Follow the instructions in the link below to reset Windows update components. How do I reset Windows Update components? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 Method 2: Follow the instructions in the link below to rename Software distribution and catroot folders and try to install the service pack. You cannot install some updates or programs http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798 Method 3: Perform System File Checker (SFC) scan which will help you in resolving the issue. To determine whether the issue that you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions. Follow the instructions in the link below to run SFC scan. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936212/ That should fix the issue for you. Thank you. Rega

Windows XP is suddenly showing not genuine
I know there have been other threads on this but could someone help me please? I installed the windows updates today (about 25 of them) and when I restarted the computer it was a black screen and said that my copy of Vista was not genuine. I assure you it is genuine, and I have the product key on the bottom of my laptop which I could retype if it would bring up a screen that would let me! I ran the MGA diagnostic tool and this is what it says: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0): ----------------------------------------- Windows Validation Data--> Validation Status: Invalid License Many thanks Julia
Ignore the error message from MGADiag - it simply meqans that it can't save the log files where it wants to (the root directory), nad shouldn't make any difference to the ability to paste the report to your response. exactly which commands were not available? what was the error? In Normal Mode, you should be able to open Internet Explorer, and follow the 'fix' instructions from there (that's why it's written that way)
Hi Sorry that I posted in the XP forums, I thought that I had posted in Vista. Anyway, thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I've tried to go through those steps in your message but am getting stuck at 5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes) I add to the string so it looks like this: C:\Windows\system32>net stop slvc but when I press enter, the following message comes up underneath: "The software licensing service is not started. More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3521" When I type that in, I get the message: "The *** service is not started" Any ideas to get round this? Many thanks Julia
That's OK in this case - what you are doing with that command is trying to stop the service - so if it's not started, it can't be stoppped, :) - ignore it and carry on to the next command.
Ok, I went through the other steps and still no joy... I can only use the computer in safe mode and it said function not available in safe mode when I put one of the commands in. I've also tried to run the MGADiag tool another 3 times since so that I could post the results but it won't copy them! Aargh! The message that comes up is "Failed to create output files, hr = 0x80070002. Please contact support". Do I need to give up yet? Thank you so much for your help! Julia
Hmm - there's no change there so something is amiss! I've pinged the MS specialist about the problem - hopefully he'll have some suggestions short of a repair install (which is difficult, since you have Recovery disk, rather than an MS disl)
The problem you experienced is simple - someone had alreay run the 'fix' previously, and therefore the file rename failed, because the 'new' flename already existed. Instead of 7)) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar use 7) ) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar2 and see what happens :) (if that also fails, try .bar3/.bar4 etc.)
(MODS - Please move to the Vista forums!) Your list of Mismatched files is a complete list of all files monitored by the system! This almost certainly means that your Licensing Store is badly corrupted. Please try the below steps to recreate the Store files. Hi Noel Thank you for getting back to me again. Right, I've done it in normal mode and when I typed the command 7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar it said that a file already existed by that name. I ran the rest of the commands after it but Windows still says that it is not genuine. It now says that "Windows must be reinstalled". It seems to be getting worse! File mistmatch keeps SL from running and requires boot ignoring signed drivers
When the latest Windows Update was executing it was cancelled before it completed. Now the only way the machine will boot is by f8 and picking disable driver signatures. Once in Windows, control panel and windows update do not work at all. Software licensing cannot be stared through services.msc. sfc /scannow runs but does not identify any corrupted files. The startup repair indicates system integrity check problem but cannot fix it. I have run chkdsk and it found no errors. For whatever reason there were no system checkpoints prior to this issue so I cannot do a system restore. I have also run the "Fix It" program referenced in a separate posting. I have had no problems for the past two years prior to this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Hey Kcolo, Welcome to Microsoft Answers Forum! Windows Update won’t work in Safe Mode and that is the reason you are not able to perform Windows Update from Safe Mode. 1. Open Windows Update, Click View Update History, check for the Update that was not installed successfully. [The Kb article number] 2. Please go to control panel select ‘programs and features’, click on view installed updates and then uninstall the update that caused the issue. Regards, Manasa P-Microsoft Support.
Manasa, Unfortunately I still have my problem. I did not try to run Windows Update from Safe Mode. When the original problem occurred Windows Update was running while I was in normal mode. Since the Update was cancelled before it completed, I have not been able to boot in normal mode. If I try, I get a blue screen that flashes to quickly to write down the error code and then the machine reboots itself. The only way I can boot is to press f8 and pick "disable driver signature enforcement". That is how I have been getting into windows. In that mode Windows Update will not run and I cannot access the control panel. So I cannot check "Update History" to see the Update that was not successful. I have gone into msconfig and set the next boot to be in safe mode. I still have to hit f8 and select "disable driver signature enforcement" but then when it boots it will boot into safe mode. (If I try to pick safe mode from the boot menu I still get the blue screen and a reboot). Once in safe

Hello all, I'm have read the post at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/abnormally-high-cpu-usage-from-svchostexe-solved/eb38d25d-6bb2-47cd-80f2-5389c62337be and this hasn't really given me any answers to what is going on. I am skilled computer user and have done my due diligence. SFC produced no issues zero malware on the computer confirmed by 4 different programs including HitmanPro which is the final program used by MS This is a pretty fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64 bit, fully updated automatically running MSSE. Finally was home long enough to get this done. I work two jobs and have had to work on my laptop remotely from out of the house as I haven't had the time to deal with this. I decided to open the Resource Monitor to see if I was getting good results and I saw that it spiked the responsible svchost.exe CPU usage so I let it record for over 3 minutues to get an accurate capture of what was going on with my computer. It was quite interesting. Have you ever gotten an answer from Microsoft about this? I've been having this problem since a week or so. I'm thinking it started after one of the Microsoft updates. I don't really want to undo them unless I know which one might be the culprit.
Hi Rama, Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community. I make sure to help you with the issue you are facing and assist you better. May I know the issue that you are facing with? Let us know if you have any queries related to Windows we will be glad to assist you. Thanks.
Mohammaed Is it possible that you can answer MY issue? I do appreciate that Sander is looking for assistance as well, but my problem has gone unanswered and I have provided so many details and it has been a month now with no support from MS whatsoever. Thanks for you time and consideration
checking in on this to see if anyone had feedback on the results I'm going to take another recording.. my system is now crashing when we are trying to use it :(
Main PID is 432, but I also see 160 as another one listed in the CPU as well. Hope this helps!
MS emailed me to prompt me to ask for more help or close it. Asking again to see if anyone had comments or other suggestions. Cheers
Offline files (CSC service) keeps crashing
Hello We had a Windows 2003 server and Windows XP and 7 Pro SP1 clients who use offline files perfectly (files stored on a NAS which is joined to the domain). We acquired a new server hardware with Windows 2008 R2 and promoted it and made it the DNS server. Syncing Offline Files on Windows XP is still working perfectly; however, the Windows 7 clients are facing CSC service crashes. The moment Sync Center starts syncing, multiple services crash at the same time. Offline files then become "enabled but not active". Looking at Event Viewer, we can find the following errors: What is really causing the problem!? Thank you
I have came across the faulty memory case, but I highly doubt it, because I can't have all my Windows 7 machines stopping at the same time due to memory issue!
I am fighting the same problem right now. I have researched this a bit and am leaning toward bad memory. But I would doubt this would be the case for you since it is happening on multiple machines. I have found two other cases where these same failures have been solved by running mem test and finding a bad stick. I'll post back if I get anywhere.
Microsoft Project 2010 Crashes when
I tried to repair this on technet with no luck :( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/projserv2010setup/thread/c7864bbd-9415-4448-922c-658a25fa702e/#c7864bbd-9415-4448-922c-658a25fa702e They tried to tell me to disable all add-ins but it still crashed. I tried to re-install project 2010 with no resolution. The program DIDN'T crash a few times. Once it crashed the first time it crashed every time I close a project. The project plan saves but it still is annoying to deal with the crash. Here is the crash report AppName=Microsoft Project AppPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINPROJ.EXE
ZaneP, I'm sorry you are having trouble with Project but the forums may not be the place to ask for the help you need. Those of us who respond on the forum are all volunteers and are not employed by Microsoft. Posting the crash report means nothing to me and I guessing it also means nothing to anyone else who regularly responds on this forum. Occasionally a Microsoft employee may drop into the forum but that is a rarity and obviously none has for your issue thus far. If you are looking for Microsoft tech support, see this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319726?wa=wsignin1.0 That said, we may still be able to help you but we would need more information about your setup. We know you have Project 2010 but is it updated with SP1? What version of Office are you running? Are you connected to Project Server? Has the crash always occurred or did it just start? Does it crash with all files (i.e. new and existing)? Have you trashed your working Global such that Project generates a new fres
Hey John, Thanks for the detail. I am on SP1 14.0.6129.5000 (32-bit) Every time I close project it crashes. If I have multiple plans open it waits until the last one is closed before it crashes. I have disabled all add-ons. No idea what the issue is. I appreciate any thoughts on the issue.
ZaneP, Wow, who'da thunk it. I'd be interested in how you found that reference. Thanks for the update. Please mark your last response as the answer. John

ZaneP, Okay, but there are a few questions you didn't answer. Check the last paragraph in my last reply and help fill in the blanks. Then I have some more questions. Are you working with a master/subproject structure or a resource pool/sharer file structure? Have all your files been strictly created, edited and saved with Project 2010 or did some of the process go through another version of Project? Do you have any VBA modules associated with the files? I have no idea what the issue is either. That's why we need more information to try to figure out the best approach to take. John

Hi, I would suggest you follow the methods below and see if it helps. Method 1 You can try in Compatibility mode and see if it works fine. Make older programs run in this version of Windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows Method 2 If the problem still persists, you can re-install the program and see if it helps. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulatorx/ Check if the issue is resolved.
Thank you However i fixed via running the cmd prompt and running The sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) scans the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible. Thanks.

Hello, You can report to http://connect.microsoft.com Before reporting this issue, please check if the issue only apply to the specific xsn, please create a brand new InfoPath template, add Person/group picker control and connect to SharePoint again, can you reproduce the issue with the new InfoPath file? If we cannot reproduce the issue with new InfoPath file, I suspend the issue was caused by the old InfoPath template, not an issue with InfoPath application. Post back that we can discuss this further.

Hi Colion, Since you are using a third party backup utility, you may use the Windows backup utility which is built in to Windows 7. You may get in touch with the program manufacturer for further help.

I have exactly the same issue using pretty much the same setup Win 7 64 bit Ultimate SP1. 6GB RAM ASUS N53J. The broadband internet connection PPoE will drop the connection , then attempt to redial and just hang. If i look in Task Manager fast enough I can see the Windows Explorer process start to consume all memory. Once it's eaten enough memory the computer becomes unresponsive until the process crashes and releases the memory, or until i get sick of waiting and manually power down. The moment I see it happening, i start task manager and kill off the explorer process that chews up all the memory. This prevents the freeze but makes the connection unuseable. It's greyed out saying it's disconnecting. And it ill stay that way till i reboot. I have to copy the connection and use the copy. I actually have 5 connections of the same type now so if one crashes then i can kill it, and start the next. Be damned if i know what the problem is but you're not alone and the hang is not caused by CP
Hi, 1. From when are you facing this issue? 2. Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue? 3. Does this issue occur when you open any particular application? I would suggest you to follow these methods and check. Method 1: I would suggest that you run SFC scan on the computer which would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them. How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 Method 2: This issue could also be because of an interference with one of the application installed on your computer. Therefore, you may set the computer in a clean boot state and then check if the issue persists. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Make sure that you perform “step 7” in the link above to boot your computer normally. Thank you

Hi, Follow these methods: Method 1: I would also suggest you to follow the steps from the below link and check. Autoruns for Windows http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx Method 2: If this does not help, you may create a new user with Administrator privileges and check. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account If everything works fine in new user account, then the other user should be a corrupted. To fix the corrupted user account, follow the steps from the following article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile Thank you.
Thanks for the reply. Here are some details: 1. From when are you facing this issue? This is a new computer. I have been using this since last Monday. I have come across this problem thrice. 2. Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue? 3. Does this issue occur when you open any particular application? This issue occurs when dsl broadband modem lost connection to internet (I was connected to internet and browsing the web using IE9 or Safari 5.1.2). A pop-up window shows up titled Remote Access Dialer with the message: Connecting to broadband connection (not responding). Then the system hangs... Hi, Have you tried the remaining steps from Method 2? As you are not facing an issue in a clean boot state, you may perform step 2 to Step 7 from Method 2. ie9 parent process exits with code 2 on certificate install
Hi I hope you can help with this problem I have a situation where during seemingly normal use I get an abnormal termination with exit code 2 from the parent IE9 process, and this in turn brings down all ie9 processes runing on my host. This occurs whenever I install a certificate using the import button on the internet options, content, certificates dialog. Basically on the last step of certificate import all the ie windows running on the host close. I attached a debugger to the parent process and got the trace below. Hi Sathish S V thanks for the reply. I have tried both methods and neither provides a fix. I had already uninstalled ie9 and received the same problem with ie8. I then reinstalle ie9 and still have he problem. system file check also revealed no issues I also did a full checkdisk scan of my c:\ drive and found no issues. Let me provide a bit more detail on the problem. The other way this problem manifests itself is when a ie instance offers up a certificate to install. when installing,I click "open" and follow the wizerd. All goes normal until the last step, and no confirmation popup window occurs that the certioficate was installed. ie does not crash in this case. the certificate does not get installed. So there are two strange behaviors with certificate install - the one I described initially and this one. My suspicion is that there is some tie to mcafee drive encryption or mcafee protection suite.- both of which are mandated by our IT department and difficult to remove for a

Hi Karl Dohm, Perform the following troubleshooting methods: Method 1: I would suggest you to uninstall Internet Explorer 9 and check how it works. Refer the following link to uninstall Internet Explorer 9. How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9? Method 2: If that doesn’t work, I would suggest you to perform System File Check to fix the corrupted system files. Refer the following link to perform System File Check. How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7 Note: It may ask for windows DVD to fix and to enable SFC to make more than minor repairs. Some files saved on your computer might get deleted when fixing corrupted files.

Windows Media Player 11 - Vista Home Premium x86 - C00D1199 error / 80040218; can only play about half of my library files
I've tried like everything on the forum, I think I need to reinstall Windows Media Player (Version: 11.0.6001.7008). Some of my codecs now don't work correctly & only about half of my previous playable songs still play. I wish I had a old System Restore point, but now all my old Restore Points are gone. Microsoft's download/update site is of no help, Microsoft only offers downloads for pre-Vista versions. For Vista, it says to restore using program recovery within Vista. I did go to my Sony VAIO Recovery Center program's Reinstall Programs or Drivers tab, but unfortunately Windows Media Player is not listed as one of the many factory-installed programs that can be restored to the original condition. I don't want to wipe my entire harddrive just to fix one program by doing the Restore C: Drive or Restore Computer System options because I have over 105GB worth of stuff that would need to be backed up. How do I reinstall just Windows Media Player or how do a fix this error problem???? I know the files are not corrupt because they play fine on my Compaq computer which has the same exact music files, only difference is the WMP version on my Compaq computer is like 11.0.8 I think. I already tried the Basic & Full versions of K-lite Codec package & my WMP still only plays about half of my library. The Windows Media Player error I get when I try to play an originally playable file is: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Opening the Web Help link on the error box, it goes to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/webhelp/default.aspx?&mpver=11.0.6001.7008&id=C00D1199&contextid=83&originalid=80040218 which says the original error code was: "Technical Details = This error might have been triggered by an error in another program or component of Windows. Tim De Baets http://www.bm-productions.tk Ok I figured out the problem. This problem started occur around the same week that I upgraded my iTunes + Quicktime to a newer version. I went with my gut feeling & uninstalled everything Apple related on my Vaio. (I was also having a problem where Quicktime refused to play with sound, files would play but no sound would be heard) Then tried to play my unplayable mp3s, & they all play with no errors! I reinstalled iTunes & Quicktime & the whole Apple package thing on their site, & WMP refuses to play like half my mp3 library again =( Something about iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Update,
Yes, this is likely an issue with iTunes and/or Quicktime. I suggest that you report this in the Apple Discussion Forums . Tim De Baets http://www.bm-productions.tk
Oops, forgot to mention that all the previously playable files are mp3s, so basically only about half of my mp3s that I have are still playable. The other half, I get a red x-marked circle that appears next to the mp3s when I'm looking at my WMP library, and when clicked on the circle or when trying to play the mp3s that has the red circle, that C00D1199 / 80040218 error shows up.
What's the file type (MP3, WMA, WAV...) of the songs that don't play anymore? Tim De Baets http://www.bm-productions.tk

.wmv files no longer play on Windows Media Player, get C00D11B1 error message.
I am running Vista Home Basic 32 bit and I was able to run just about any video on Windows Media Player, but suddenly today it stopped playing any .wmv files that I have saved or new ones I download. All other formats still play including .mpg, .mpeg, and .avi. I tried installing K-lite Codec Pack and its update but did not help. When it installed it needed me to uninstall four different codec packs I had on my system, and at the end it listed a few links that it said were broken (I don't remember which ones.) Before installing the Codec Pack I had not made any changes to my system. My video and sound drivers are the most current versions. The following is the support information for WMP. Hi Ace531, As a first step of troubleshooting, I would suggest you to update your sound driver by following the steps in Method 1. Method 1: Windows Media Player C00D11B1 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/C00D11B1 Note: The steps are also applicable to Windows Vista Media Player. Method 2: Re-register wmvdecod.dll Wmvdecod.dll is responsible for all your .wmv files to play on Windows Media Player. If .wmv files aren’t playing, then probably wmvdecod.dll file might have gone corrupted. I would suggest you to re-register wmvdecod.dll by following the steps mentioned below. a. Click on Start; in the start search type cmd. b. Right click on cmd.exe and choose to “Run as administrator”. c. Type the following commands and press Enter after typing each command. Regsvr32 /u wmvdecod.dll Regsvr32 wmvdecod.dll d. Close the command prompt and then check if you’re able to play .wmv files. Additional information: FIX: Windows Media Player 11 cannot play WMV files that contain multiple vi
Hi, I'm actually having a similar problem except I cannot rip any CD's to wma format. It continues to tell me I am missing codec, however I have automatic codec updates enabled and have tried installing several 3rd party codex packs with no luck at all. I was able to rip to wma format a few months ago but have not been able to since. Any help would be great.

dvdmaker error 99%
I have searched for weeks for a solution to this..... there are lots of other people with the same problem, but I haven't found anyone with an answer that works for me yet. Windows 7 Home Premium, Asus K52JT laptop In DVDmaker I can create a DVD using single or multiple WMV files, preview works fine. Select Burn, encoding starts, gets to about 75% then zips up to 99%, fails with error and Discs haven't been touched - it doesn't even start burning anything. Content Partner None Found
Don't know if they've been converted - they are from a hd video camera orignally and were given to me by a colleague. I'm supposed to burn them to disc and distribute to other colleagues for training, which is why I want it to look as professional as I can. I tried mmconvert to convert to avi but it seemed to just freeze in the middle of the first video. It will take days to convert them all if it is just that slow. I found an old MS codec pack on the MS site, but it won't install on Win7. Something like this would be a great start, as at least I would know I had the default MS codecs installed. About to try the latest version of K-Lite codec pack. It will possibly break my system even more, but it can't be any worse than it is (ie not working at all). Windows reinstall is the next step, otherwise it looks like I'll need to buy 3rd party software, which sucks as I paid for DVDmaker when I bought Win7.
Maybe the following article would be worth a look: How to Burn DVD's with Windows DVD Maker http://www.7tutorials.com/how-burn-dvds-windows-dvd-maker (scroll down to ...What To Do In Case Of Issues)
Sorry, I should have realized you already tried disabling the filters. Just wondering...have the .WMV files in question been converted? If_Yes_maybe a different converter would be worth a try.
The following freeware may be worth a try for burning your DVD: (FWIW) It's always a good idea to create a System Restore Point before installing software or updates) DVD Flick http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVD_Flick Ulead, etc...but at least this is a start. Good luck.
Thanks for this, but I had found that page already (I reckon I've read hundreds of pages referring to this issue). Forgot to mention above that I have tried disabling filters in the compatibility tab, I only have the AVI Decrompessor installed which from my reading usually isn't the problem anyway. Tried restore all defaults, no option makes any difference for me. It would be great if there was an install file for DVDmaker so I could reinstall it from scratch, along with a MS approved Codec pack..... too much to ask for it seems though.
Audio is out of sync with video on Windows Media Player 7 after 12 Oct, 2010 Windows update
I downloaded the recent big Tuesday Windows Security Patch on 12 Oct, 2010 and now all my videos are out of sync with the audio whenever I play them on Windows Media Player version 12.0.7600.16667. I've tried running updates for Windows and Sony Vaio for drivers and it says everything is up to date, so I'm at a loss. One of my friends said he thought I may need to update the Codec or something. I've been to the Windows FAQ page on Codec and DivX updates, but that doesn't tell me jack about what the problem is. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't know if this will help or not, but this is the info I got off of the Windows Media Player: Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7600.16667 Operating System Version: 6.1.7600 Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My buddy who works in computers said it sounded like the CODECs, and I've been to the webpage in step 1 that you listed, but that doesn't tell me anything. It's just gee whiz info about what a CODEC is and there are hundreds of them out there. That's nice and all, but what CODEC do I actually need to download? How do I find out which one I need, and once I do, where do I get it from? I tried steps 2, and 3 and they didn't work. I also tried step 4, but the Change Settings feature is disabled, as mentioned in your note. I had this same problem happen one time on my older laptop, and I believe all I needed to do was update the CODEC or DiVX or something like that, but I don't know how to find which ones I need or where to get them at. Thanks.

Recorded TV : Playback skips and or stalls. file corruption? Or codec issue?
I am having a problem with my recorded TV files. DVDs and online content work fine. When watching the recorded TV files with Media center or media player they get stuck. Video and audio stops for around 45 seconds to a minute and resumes missing that minute or so of content. It happens in the same spots in any given file on multiple files. It happens on files I have watched with no issues in the past. When I play the files with cyberlink they just skip over the "problem" content. I might be imagining it but I think the problem is getting worse as time goes on. I'm leaning toward a codec issue. As the problem is across different players. I still wonder about file corruption. Just simply because files I have viewed with no problems before are now presenting the same problem. I would however think if a codec went bad or was somehow replaced it could cause the problem on older content as well. I have not installed any codec packs. Is it possible to reinstall or repair the codecs I have? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Hopefully helpful info follows. P.s. Just figured out that original builder used shark007 for codecs. I have not updated since the build. So that will be my next step. I was trying to avoid utilities as the help section said to be careful with codec packs. Now I know the builder used it Ill be more confident using that. Wish me luck and let me know if I'm headed the wrong direction. Thanks for any help! -Kirk Ran Windows update. Outlook 2010 crashes constantly
I have a computer with Windows 7 64 bit and Office 2010 connected to a Exchange 2003 server. During te day Outlook will crash a couple of times. I did an Office repair, created a new ost file, did chkdsk /r /f on the system, all the latest Microsoft updates are installed, disabled all unnecessary addins. Most of the time Outlook crashes when opening an attachement like a pdf or excel file. We have more Windows 7 computers with Office 2010 but these don't seem to have the same problem. When the crash occurs it's generates the following error message, what could cause this? Does the same thing happen if you start Outlook in safe mode? Hold Ctrl when you click its icon to start it. Have you tried repairing the Office installation?
Haven't tried safe mode yet, but I did an Office repair, this didn't help. Is there any way to find out why Outlook is crashing, maybe generate a dump file or something when it crahses?

IE9 crash on some page after installing KB2888505
After updating IE9 with KB2888505, it start crashing on some pages. After uninstalling the KB2888505 patch, IE9 works correctly in those pages. We also tried to disable all the plugins used in IE9 (iexplore.exe -extoff) but with no luck. We also tried to fresh install windows 7 with IE9 (RTM version) in a VM environment, it works correctly. But after installing the KB2888505 patch. It start crashing. a prototype to illustrate this problem. Can that be made public? Or a repro description in words be made? It would help your case if you could have others saying that they could see the same symptom, e.g. in your Connect report. FWIW I am now on KB2888505 on IE11 and was not able to reproduce the crash I saw yesterday while editing a quote from your first message. I'm not surprised that I wasn't able to recreate it because, as I mentioned, that particular one has always seemed to be random, in fact, less frequent than it once was.
After updating IE9 with KB2888505, it start crashing on some pages. Do you have a repro procedure with any particular page? We can also provide a crash dump if needed. Stack Back Trace might be useful but from your list of Loaded Modules I doubt that anything will jump out at me the way it sometimes does from that diagnostic. I suspect a repro procedure will be the most useful additional symptom description. BTW while trying to edit your Quote I managed to crash my older version of IE11 (on W8.1 Preview). And I just got 0x80073712 for Some updates were not installed when I tried to get KB2888505 manually. So I will see if mine is less stable when I get that applied. I'm not sure that I could reproduce the crash I just had though. It's one I have had in here before with varying frequency but never known how to repro sufficiently to bother trying to report it. Hi Rebert, Thanks for your quick response. As the problematic page is in our internal system, I cannot disclose it publicly... So I also submit a bug report to connect.microsoft.com ( https://connect.microsoft.com/IE/feedback/details/810110/ie9-crash-on-some-page-after-installing-kb2888505 ) with a prototype to illustrate this problem. Word crashing when trying to save docs to Sharepoint
I have Word 2010 and have been using Sharepoint 365 for quite some time now. One or two people are now having a problem where, after editing a doc in Word, they cannot save it to Sharepoint and/or it crashes Word. It has been happening now over a week and is very unpredictable. I am pasting the word crash report from the Report Archive. This happens multiple times a day. Alll we can do is save a local copy of the file and then try over and over until it finally works. Again, we have probably 15 users, this is only happening for 2 of them who happen to use the same Share (but are never in the same file at once). And it only started happening the last 10 days or so. I noticed there was a big Microsoft Office update about Oct 15, but this would have affected them longer ago if it was related to this. It never happens with local Word files so I'm sure it's related to the 365. Hi MignonneHalpern7357, Thanks for your update. According to your description, I get know that the Word 2010 application crashes when clicking Save after editing the documents from SharePoint library. If the issue started happening after installing the update KB3055034 for Microsoft Office 2010 that was released on October 13, 2015, the root cause may be the Office desktop client update. Given the situation, I would like to suggest that you post the issue in our dedicated Office 2010 forum . We have a specific forum on TechNet that handles Office 2010 desktop client issues. Thanks for your understanding. Shirley
Hi MignonneHalpern7357, I notice the issue occurs to the persons who use the same Share. For further investigation, please send us the information below: 1. More details about "use the same Share". 2. What about if you let others use the same Share you mentioned? 3. Do people encounter the issue when using another application? Thanks, Hale
Yes, the issue persists, I keep trying to email you back but it keeps not going through 1. More details about "use the same Share". Sorry, same document library is what I mean. This is no longer true - seems to happen in different document libraries but most frequently one in particular - nothing unusual about it. 2. What about if you let others use the same Share you mentioned? Different people do use this doc library, also on different computers. Only commonality is all pcs are Win 7 and all use Word 2010 and they are using the doc library from Windows Explorer 3. Do people encounter the issue when using another application? ONLY in WORD, but that doesn't mean much because there's really only word files in this doc share. New update - another client I have (completely different M365 subscription) now has the identical issue - Word crashing when accessing word files from a doc library Anything we can do? Any updates to try? Anything? We are pretty much flailing at this point. O
Hi MignonneHalpern7357, Does the issue persist? If so, please send us the information mentioned above for troubleshooting Thanks, Hale
Word 2016 crashes randomly with BEX error
Hi, I have a COM add-in developed for Word2010 with VS2013 targeting .Net framework 4.0. Add-in works fine in 2010 but the same add-in crashes randomly in 2016. So I have created "2016 Word Add-in template" in VS 2015 targeting .Net framework 4.6 and copy pasted the code from 2010 add-in template to 2016 add-in template. Still I am facing the crashing issue randomly, mostly on closing the document. The is happening in both 86-bit and 64-bit office versions and also for every one (approx 150 users). Could anyone please help me with your valuable inputs in solving this issue. Please let me know incase of more details. Thanks, Stanley
OneNote 2010 crashes when I open a note with a printout or I add a printout
Hallo, each time if I open a note with a printout or I want to inser a printout of a embended file OneNote crashes. It works well, when I open those notes on other machines, using another profile on the same machine leads to the same problem. I tried the solutions as described here: How can I determine the cause of an AppCrash on Unhandled Exception in Kernelbase.dll prior to Application Start? OneNote 2016 (office365) crash while opening some note pages Unhandled exception at 0x76A3C54F (KernelBase.dll) in ONENOTE.EXE: 0xE0434F4D (parameters: 0x80070002). The program '[10004] ONENOTE.EXE' has exited with code 0 (0x0).
Hallo, I have the dim feeling that it might be related to missing .net framework packages. Can you tell what .net framework packages or other non office packages are required to make printouts work properly? thx
It is still persistent! Anti virus was checked but it is not the cause
as mentioned in the very beginning I've also tried a repair install of Office 2010. and on the pages I refenced to in the very beginning. Neither safe mode nor repair install solved the problem

Hi, Welcome to Windows Vista Answers community. Now that you are not able to get past the errors in normal mode, let’s try to run System File Checker (SFC) scan in safe mode. Below are the steps that will help you in booting to safe mode. 1. Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer. Click the Start button Picture of Start button, click the arrow next to the Lock button Picture of Lock button, and then click Restart. Regards Sreekanth
C:\Windows\system32\rtutils.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error
Computer freezes up, won't open programs
Yes. There are a couple of ways you can do this. Try running the System File Checker first. Click on Start and type cmd in the "Search programs and files" box. Cmd.exe will appear at the top of the Menu. Rightclick on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Once the Command Prompt opens, type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes and hit Enter. The System File Checker will start. It might take a while to complete so be patient. Reboot when it has completed. If that doesnt work, go to Programs and Features. Click on View Installed Updates and uninstall Security Update 982799. Reboot and then reinstall it from The MS Download Centre. Hi mlazenby. Boot into Safe Mode and try running System Restore (restart your computer and tap F8 continuously as it restarts). If no luck, boot from your Windows 7 DVD and run System Restore in the Recovery Environment. See http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial142.html for more help (it's the same procedure for Windows 7) If Windows 7 was preinstalled on your computer, restart again and tap F8 continuously as your computer restarts. Choose "Repair Your Computer" and click on "View advanced options for system recovery and support" and then click on System Restore. See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode MVP (Windows Desktop Experience)
I have the same error message regarding rtutils.dll file. However, we also have no restore point. Is there any way we can re-install this file?
Missing rtutils.dll
I am getting a message telling me that rtutils.dll is missing. How can I restore it?
Open an 'Elevated Command' prompt and run the SFC utility to check for and repair any damaged system files. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html Let me know if it finds and repairs any files.

Hi, Thank you for your reply and providing us this information. I suggest you perform method 2 and let us know the status. Windows updates and service packs may fail to install if there are corruption errors. For example, an update might not install if a system file is damaged. The DISM or System Update Readiness tool may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors. Regards, Guru Kiran
Hi, I downloaded a Windows 10 ISO in DVD and burned it to DVD, but I didn´t boot my computer. I installed again with DVD Windows 10 and now it seems, that everything is allright. Thank you for your help Kristián
Hi Kristian, There might be a system file corruption on your computer. Try performing a SFC scan and check if the issue persist. Method 1: System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps: Press Windows key + X , select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt. In Command prompt type sfc /scannow and press enter. Restart the computer. Method 2 : DISM TOOL: On the Search bar type “cmd”. Right Click on the Command Prompt option and select Run as Administrator. (If prompted for a password, type the password and click Allow). Type “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth”\ For more information about DISM click on the link below: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821 Please send us a screen shot if possible. Follow the steps from the link below to include your screen shot in this post. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_other-wind
This is it? It has finished? It not helped.
It looks, that the method 1 something went wrong, because scanning stopped at 79% And the second method is not working good too, here is the result
Hi, I suggest you to perform Automatic Repair/Startup repair in Windows recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might prevent Windows from starting. Automatic Repair scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so your computer can start correctly. Download a Windows 10 ISO in DVD or USB using media creation tool. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 a) After you boot your computer using Windows DVD or USB, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key. b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type . c) Click Repair your comp uter in the lower left corner. d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option screen. e) Click advanced options in Troubleshoot screen. f) Select Automatic repair . Keep us posted on the status for further assistance.
Hi Guru Kiran, here is the screen shot. I am trying the method 1 at the moment, its scanning and then i will restart, but I will wait with answer minimum one day, because this window dont pop up always. Could you tell me, that why i didnt get an e-mail with your answer? There was not e-mail in Spam. Thank you Regards Kristián
Word 2010 crashes when loading docs from Sharepoint site
Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal server environment. Sharepoint 2010 installed on separate server. Office 2010 32Bit Standard edition with SP1 and latest patches. Users are using roaming profiles and some folders (Documents etc) are re-directed to a network share \\servername\home$\username\Documents When a user clicks on a word document link in Sharepoint (Accessed via IE9) and then clicks on "Open" - Word starts to load and then Pops up a "Microsoft Word has stopped working" error. If I show Problem details the fault module name is nearly always "RASAPI32.DLL" (although it has also been "RTUTILS.DLL") This doesn't happen every time I click the file, but if I load 10 files it will happen at least once. I have done a repair on the Office 2010 install via Control panel. (and re-applied all updates). I have de-selected "Automatically detect settings" in LAN settings in Connections in Internet Options. I have added http:\\intranet (sharepoint site) to Trusted sites. I have de-selected al
Gotta love computing. It has so many truely wierd little corners and bad interactions. Thanks for the update.
One more thing you can try is change the macro security setting to "disable all macros with notification". The problem may be something happening in one of your startup macros to cause your problem.
Just an update which may help someone else. My problem turned out to be related to the WYSE thin clients we were using to connect to the Win 2008 R2 Terminal servers. The software that allows/enhances use of dual screens called WYSE TXC Multi-Display v1.2.1.7 was causing the applications to crash (including IE 9 32bit). Once this software was disabled - The errors stopped. I have a feeling this software doesn't like Windows Server 2008 R2. It was being used successfully on Server 2003. I have seen a few other posts on Google for people searching for an updated version without success. Thanks for the other replies.
You have a good handle on trouble shooting. But until you can pin down a specific, repeatable cause we can't help you fix it. Since it is still random you have some more work to do. Here are some Word specific trouble shooting techniques to help you do that. Trouble Shoot Word problems that occur when you start or use Word 2010, 2007, 2003, or 2002 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921541 NOTE: part of this procedure is disabling addins. If you want to take a shortcut, check to see if you have a BlueTooth device driver or addin, ie “send to Bluetooth”, installed. Disabling BlueTooth is rapidly moving to the top of my Office trouble shooting process. Blue Tooth drivers have been identified as the cause of problems with many different “random” symptoms. If you have BlueTooth, disable it in control panel, device manager and possibly as an addin in Office apps. Troubleshoot problems opening or starting Word
Dynamics GP 10.0 running on server 2008 R2 and DEP
Is there an official statement regarding the use of Dynamics (32bit) on a Windows Server 2008R2 machine (64bit) and DEP?
